Although there hasn’t been much reported, what little there has been seems that this guy had been a big enough nuisance for neighbors to complain about, and the local police knew about his shenanigans, but little or nothing was ever done about it.

I agree .

Nearly all serial killer have had sex or at least wish they had

I therefore blame pu$$y

Makes same amount of sense doesn’t it

You know what..

Most serial killers probably have drank too

Or had a cheeseburger

Or watched Mr Rogers or Captain Kangaroo..

That Green Jeans fellow was sketchy....

And all this wisdom about pot from people who’ve never smoked it in their life but they are always experts here

It kills me.....that’s a pun

I’m not familiar with you on reefer madness threads

Have you ever been high from marihuana ?

Just to know your perspective to compare with mine

Well I have been let’s see....math time

1971-1985

Fourteen years ..

High multiple times daily

14 times 365 ....and leap years times say three stones a day

15,330 times

I’ve been high 15,330 times

How many times did it make me violent

A big fat zero

Ok alcohol

Lots of drinking High school and college and young adulthood

Buzzed on alcohol....twice a week for 15 years ...around 1500 drinking events

How often did i feel violent.

A fair amount actually....I’ll put it this way....every adult fight I ever got in under age 40 involved booze....without exception including one i almost killed a man with my barehands.

And got on my knees covered in his blood and prayed for his survival as a consequence...soured me of bar parking lot fights but good

I’ll trust my own expertise over folks who talk good game with no real time knowledge.... Only reason I don’t smoke now is my wife doesn’t anymore and I’m too busy but I’m almost sure I will again one day...no question... It was absolutely the only intoxicant I ever indulged in that I’d recommend today in responsible doses

other than quaaludes as therapy for middle aged women and their frequent oss of sexual desire...instant cure

How are your liver and lungs holding up?

This leads me to believe that the gun was illegally obtained by a cash-only sale.

That, or he purchased the rifle before he racked up "disqualifiers". All I've seen reported were misdemeanor charges, but he may have hit the Lautenberg Amendment "domestic violence" tripwire at a later date.

Why would you ask me that?

Drinking to buzz effect ...not drunk ...twice a week as a young man in high school and college is hardly going to kill ones liver

If you really knew how I feel about booze having watched up close twice in my life as it destroyed folks close to me you’d grasp the absurdity of that question

Unlike most poster here who just snark and share nothing I’m honest

Drank in high school and college on weekends ...and you think that’s liver damage

Lol

Pot and lungs....I noticed no pulmonary encumbrance I could detect from smoking weed in pipes or in my preferred manner ...joints

But I sure did from cigarettes which I gave up aged 32-33

No pot since 1985 except a one year period in 1991

No booze in say weekly consumption since 1981

No booze to effect at all since 1995

A rare Pilsner or lager now...which I love the taste

I have not cared for the effect of alcohol as an adult

One caveat on weed and lungs

I think folks who smoke large amounts of dab or shatter do tax their lungs...

I don’t believe that smoking pot is the major contributing factor in mass shooting, but, if it is true (I haven’t seen any reliable studies) that most mass shooters were pot smokers, it may be a contributing factor. The fact that a zillion people smoke pot and don’t become homicidal points to it not being a major cause, just as a zillion people own guns and don’t become mass shooters. There is probably no single cause, but rather a series of mitigating factors, that lead to this behavior, everything from emotional, mental issues to how they view the glorification of violence to family dynamics. Drug use, prescribed and otherwise, is probably one of the factors involved.

Some people are crazy

Some crazy people smoke pot or drink

Schizophrenic folks likely don’t smoke pot cause it make their illness worse

Most of the men are also lonely...not that we should feel sorry for them but they are rejects

Of whatever color

Oh for Christ sake you sound like the guy who wrote the script for “Reefer Madness.’’

And you're in denial.

I have known schizophrenic people who smoked pot like it was an order from god. I haven’t known any of them to become a mass killer, though one did kill himself. But you kind of make my point. There is no one cause, but rather a series of contributing factors that we need to study and learn to chart.

Smoking pot as a normal guy...should not be a issue. Smoking pot as someone diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic....is a problem.

Agree, now, add smoking pot as a paranoid schizophrenic, who is focused on violence, whether in movies, books or video games, comes from a broken home, has serious anger issues and blames others for his self inflicted failures. There could be any number of other contributing factors, such as growing up without rational ownership of firearms in the house and being taught that they are an evil source of power. That can create a fascination in the mind of someone who has issues and feels powerless.

I've never been much of a user.

No, what I know about drugs hasn't come from self abuse but observation. I live close to the largest outdoor lab for experimental and recreational drug use, Seattle.

I grew up with two addicts as parents.

My tolerance for addict related bull is zero.

The things that will get you denied are normally something to do with some type of violence or battery charge, drugs, stalking type stuff. Then you can appeal it/explain yourself and get approved. Really not that big of a deal.

What I really find interesting about the system is, as a gun owner, why does the FBI manage the NICS system? Why doesn’t the agency responsible for firearms do it?

Some of the recent mass shooters wrote scripts for tweak!

And before that, they all "partook" of the "natural" herb for years.
