We here in SE MA saw unbelievable rain and storms last night. I don’t know if it was connected to Dorian or not, but it was Torrential.

My question is...
...why drive when you can fly?
And I'm ready to go!
Somewhere! Anywhere but here. LOL!
Did everyone have a good holiday?
It was quiet here.
My way of celebrating labor.
Or the lack thereof for one retired.
Have a Terrific Tuesday!
(((hugs)))

As I understand it, nowadays all Army Aviation personnel are trained at Ft. Rucker. During the Vietnam War some pilots trained at Ft. Wolters. Just curious if you know, were Army Medics who became Air Rescue/Evacuation (Dustoff) now referred to as Air Crewman (medical) during the period 1965-1970 trained exclusively at Rucker? Or Wolters as well? Not Dustoff pilots but only Medics.

Yes, Ft. Wolters is no more as an Army installation. All Army Aviation training was consolidated at Ft Rucker in 1973. Flight Medics (68W MOS) are still trained at Ft. Sam Houston, TX and assigned to Medevac units after successfully completing the AMMEDD Aviation Crewmembers Course.

Sorry, I didn’t really answer your question. I really don’t know where flight medics were specifically trained during that 1965-1970 time period. I’m not even sure there was a formal flight medic course then. Medics may have just been assigned to Medevac units as required and picked up the specific aircrew member skills OJT, I don’t know...

Maybe some FReeper who was a flight medic during that timeframe knows the answer.

We will be taking our second trip to Ft. Rucker this year - in 2 weeks.

Our son will graduate from the flight training program and get his Army Aviator wings the end of September - and we will be there to celebrate with him. [He selected the fixed wing C-12 to fly....]

Ft. Rucker is an interesting base - with a great museum for Army Aviation.
