The Department of Justice has drafted legislation that would expedite capital punishment for those found guilty of mass killings, according to a top Trump administration official.
Vice President Mike Pences chief of staff Marc Short told reporters Monday that the veeps policy team has been working with Attorney General William Barr on the death penalty bill, which will likely be part of a larger gun control package the White House will try to sell to Congress amid a wave of shooting massacres, including the latest rampage in Texas that killed seven people.eVice President Mike Pences chief of staff Marc Short told reporters Monday that the veeps policy team has been working with Attorney General William Barr on the death penalty bill, which will likely be part of a larger gun control package the White House will try to sell to Congress amid a wave of shooting massacres, including the latest rampage in Texas that killed seven people. Key words:
On. Our. Dime.
How about no hots and 3 shots.
How will accelerating the Execution of Convicted Mass killers solve anything at all?
The U.S. Government hasn’t even tried the planners of the 9-11 attack that killed over 3000 Americans. What has taken so long?
*shrug* The last meal for the condemned is traditional...
It will make me feel better.
If we’d had this law, even the planners would have been tried and executed long before now.
That said, we’ve done a pretty good job of stopping anything of that scale that is planned from abroad, but not a good job on stopping mass killings in general, either by jihadists or nutcases. So immediate trial and execution would certainly clarify the minds of any potential copycats.
SIMPLE.= It’s because their lawyers have been all to successful in repeatedly postponing the trial.
The longer that a trial is postponed (for a thousand possible/specious reasons) the less likely that the trial will ever occur.
I once worked on a “homicide by motor vehicle” case that was postponed until ALL of the witnesses, the original arresting officer & even the DA had died or “disappeared without a trace”.
The case was finally dismissed.
(Shortly thereafter, the defendant died of a massive stroke, too.)

Personally Id rather a stronger VP pick for 20, like Allen West.

I agree.
From what I have read, Nitrogen is a preferred inert gas; Helium can cause spasms/other negative reactions. Since Nitrogen is the major part of the air we breathe, the body is not susceptible to rejecting it.
The means is wrong. That is, instead of a trial and execution for the killer, it would be a better approach from the other direction: to extend federal judicial relief to LEOs and civilians who stop mass shooters with lethal force.
Essentially extending federal criminal and civil jurisdiction to *protect* those that kill the killers.
That is, they cannot be tried or sued in state court, only in federal court, and under rules that expressly favor them.
By limiting this just to killing mass shooters, it would encourage LEOs and civilians to do a proper job, and to make sure the mass shooter is dead. If he survives, at both a criminal and civil level they would be in state courts.
Dragging this out where the shooter spends years on death row while appeal after appeal is heard is ridiculous. Thousands and thousands of dollars wasted on prison room and board.
Yeah, put to sleep like a dog. Woopie. Personally I think death by wood chipper, or bring back stoning.
Why not a bill that gives the Death Penalty back to the states, and restrict SCOTUS review for federal cases and clear constitutional grounds /s?
The perps are already likely to die from quick police and even civilian response.
No burial: your pieces get et by turkey vultures, and the rest of you is flat dried freeway pulp.
President Pence!
Should not be a Federal issue. Murder is a state crime. Pense and the DoJ should stay out.
This is part of a “larger gun control bill” is how the story reads as in abridgement of the Second Amendment.
What the.....?
We are baited with this death penalty thing while its the Constitution that’s getting the slow death penalty in the background.
what a radical concept : punish the criminals instead of everyone else ....imagine that [/s]
OK, great, let’s execute them. But drugs are killing more Americans than mass murderers. Drug dealers should be at the top of the list for immediate execution.
