A new school year is about to begin and along with it comes a new solution to a new problem. And Stanford University, the Harvard of the West, is proudly taking credit for discovering the problem: that people in science aren't diverse and inclusive enough. Horrors. But, being a renowned research university, it is proudly offering its solution, called: PUWMAS.
That's its unprepossessing acronym for Physics Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities at Stanford, what it calls "Stanford’s first undergraduate group dedicated to forming an inclusive community of underrepresented minorities in physics."

What does that mean? Well, along with segregated -- err, inclusive and diverse -- study groups and a book club, there will be minority physics classes, presumably because minority physics is different from toxic-majority physics. Or something.

In other words, a remedial physics class and identity group-gripe session, for people who got into Stanford.

Women and gender minorities. What the hell is that? They want tranny physics majors? I would never hire anyone or any firm associated with this. Trannys are crazy. The idea of putting them in positions of responsibility or power is crazy.

what it means is that Stanford is full of racist administrators or faculty, trying to classify and manipulate their students into studying subjects according to the faculty’s racist attitudes

It’s been going on for years and it’s doomed to failure. Behind it is the conviction codified recently by that icon of intellectual criticism Joe Biden that truth over fact is even possible. That’s fine for liberal arts majors but it’s a little tough to pretend that heat is just a social construct when you have your finger over a Bunsen burner. Alas, the ocean of scientific narrative is populated by immovable little rocks of fact that will kill you if you’re stupid, and pretending you’re not stupid with a piece of paper or a “special needs” class won’t move them.

Perhaps colleges should only admit gays and the mentally ill. Yeah, that is redundant.
My former wife entered MIT as a physics major. She played hockey on a coed intramural hockey team. She later majored in civil engineering. She never complained about any gender discrimination.

It is primarily the ones who can't hack it that attribute their under-performance to discrimination.
