Texas mass shooter threatened neighbor, shot animals from roof
NYPost ^ | September 1, 2019 | Chris Perez

A neighbor of the Odessa mass shooter says she reported him to police last month — after he threatened her with a rifle for leaving trash near his property — but cops couldn’t find his house on account of it having no GPS address or electricity.

The woman told CNN that Seth Ator, 36, would often sit on top of his home and shoot animals at night, which he would then go and retrieve afterwards.

Ator would often sit and sleep inside his Toyota Camry with the heat on when the weather would get to cold, the woman said. He also had no running water.

Another neighbor told NewsWest9 that she, too, was visited by Ator — who showed up at her door with his rifle. It was unclear what sparked that incident. The woman said Ator owned at least two guns.

Self defense then. “His ex boss reported he was coming to kill him”. /s

He thought people in cars at stop lights might be his ex boss coming to kill him. /s

Coon hunting, in the city. No dogs required.

There is always some kind of “clarifying” event prior to a shooting. If the cops had taken 5 more minutes to find this guy and talk to him, who knows what could have been saved?

"I don't understand that either. Rather then asking they just said, "we can't find the place" and left. "

It's the reason so many of these shooters fall through the cracks. A lot of people don't bother to follow up, or go out of their way to find a successful conclusion to a problem. It's nothing more than sheer laziness, which has only intensified since people began relying on devices for their answers.

he shot animals from his rooftop

Coyotes most likely. Though if you don't have livestock or pets you have no reason to do it unless you are a sicko.

How in the world did the cops ever find anyone’s house before GPS?

They'd drop a cop in the area with a blindfold on who then stumbles around yelling "Marco!" until the suspect cries out "Polo!" giving away his direction. They do this over and over leading the cop closer and closer until he can tag the suspect.

Supposedly he had stopped but the police car still hadn’t when he opened fire.

what he shot isn’t the point. The point is, his neighbors saw him shooting from his roof, yet the police couldn’t find his house.

That makes sense? Where?

I don’t know. I just find it highly dubious.

Not if it is just property with no mail delivery or electricity.

I had to call an ambulance out here to an unincorporated spot that does have an address and electricity and still had to drive up the [private] road to flag them down on another private road because they kept missing the turn. The google car did make it down the road once but the only pictures it took were of the trees around the property, nothing manmade but a hog fence and gate. There are places in this county even more obscure where multiple families live on one property with one mail box and pay the landowner to cover his electricity bill and phone bill if any rather than get a bill specific to their trailer. Still, police could have gotten accurate info from the caller.

That’s not the point of smart meters. Everyone with an IQ higher than a fruit fly’s lifespan knows that.

the point of smart meters is to collect information.

It collects information on an hour by hour level, and may collect use minute by minute, I have used printouts.

I can call to obtain all of the information it collects.

You know nothing about what a smart meter can do.

A smart meter doesn’t know what appliances you’re using or how many lights you have on.

They DO give the utility an accurate count of how many services are interrupted in an outage. (This is something they are required to report to the state public service commission, etc)

They DO give them a notification if there is a ground fault on your service line.

they can actually estimate which applicances are on and used. Utility and I used the data to determine whether it was the hot water heater or refrigerator that was causing problems.

They’re not “shooters” and that’s because the term “shooter” is not descriptive of the heinous and evil act that they have committed. When we Freepers go to the range to do some target work or trap or skeet, we are SHOOTERS. Sometime during the “90s we started adopting this laughable...and tragic...nomenclature.

The English language is extremely rich...and with good old fashioned words for these kinds of evil scum...THEY ARE MURDERERS...PLAIN AND SIMPLE! Can we PLEASE call a spade a spade? Sheesh! This is getting beyond stupid. When some kook P.O.S. kills a mass of high school students he’s a MASS-MURDERER, not a shooter.

How dumb can we get? How far can we go out of our way with stupid terms like “shooter” or “active shooter” or “gunman”...now days we even have “knifeman?” “Be on the alert...we’ve got an “inactive knifewoman” at the corner of 16th and Main.” Whoops...some idiot “reporter” beat us to it: “...Horrifying moment crazed knifewoman randomly stabs boy”
www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3775992/posts

Let’s play the media’s game: should we call those who rape women “un-invited penis users?” Yeah...let’s do that...and in so doing we’ll shine a light on how we’ve become stupid cowards with respect to using a perfectly legitimate, precise, and more descriptive term.

It’s like the use of the word “liberal.” Leftists WANT to be called “liberals”...but do we really think they are LIBERAL? Of course not! They are against LIBERTY and are AUTHORITARIANS. Why do we still call them liberal? I would even guess that a lot of Freepers are in favor of liberty and are perhaps even TRUE liberals, i.e., “Leave me alone...leave me in peace!”

Every “shooter”...and now “knifeman” reported in these kinds of stories is a MURDERER or would-be murder, not a shooter or knifeman.

Of course the house has GPS coordinates. What is a GPS address? What does having electricity have to do with locating the house?

I'm going to guess that it means they had no address they could feed into their cop-car GPS, and so decided to blow it off.

Dennis Prager (who was a Democrat and still considers himself classically liberal) has said that it time to call them Leftists and not Liberals as they have bigotries, hate, and intolerance for certain races, faiths, and personal liberties.
