House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to bring forth gun control legislation following Saturday night's shooting in Odessa and Midland, Texas.
Pelosi released the following statement about the tragic shooting:
Americas heart is broken by the senseless and horrific mass shooting tonight in Texas. The prayers of the nation are with the friends and families of the victims and the entire Midland and Odessa communities, and our deepest gratitude goes out to the first responders, who are bringing help and healing during this tragic time.Enough is enough. Every day, the epidemic of gun violence inflicts a devastating toll in communities in every corner of our country, forcing far too many to endure heartbreak and tragedy. The Republican Senate must end its obstruction and finally pass the commonsense, bipartisan, House-passed gun violence prevention legislation that the country is demanding.
Tonight and in the days to come, all Americans stand with the Midland and Odessa communities. May it be a comfort to those grieving the loss of their loved ones that so many mourn with and pray for them at this difficult time.
Schumer took to Twitter to call on McConnell to bring forth H.R. 9, the universal background check bill Democrats passed in the House.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, & everyone injured in the shooting in Odessa & Midland, TX.
Thank you to the first responders who risked their lives to stop the threat. @senatemajldr should bring up H.R. 8 the week Congress returns. We must #endgunviolence .
It's always amazing to watch anti-gunners call for gun control legislation before we know anything about the gunman. We don't know his identity, other than him being a white man in his 30s. We don't know what kind of firearm he used, other than it was a "rifle." We don't know how he obtained his firearm. We. Know. Nothing. And yet these people make assumptions about how some gun control law could have prevented the tragedy.
Same script over and over.
Totally predictable and as overused as the race card.
You can’t fix it.
Life no longer has value. Innocence is lost, and it will not be found. The church is utterly corrupt.
Man is becoming monster.
Only Jesus can fix this.
BUMP!
How does Schumer know HR8 would’ve prevented this crime unless he he had foreknowledge of it?
>>These shooters are created in childhood by the use of psychotropic drugs to cure ADD and ADHD.
<<
Did not see a thing about that in the profiles of any of the shooters in the last years, going back to Columbine.
Did I miss that part of the stories?
Shove your gun control, dims. It isn’t your call.
.
You missed the extensive study done by Dr. Julian Whitaker that proved long ago this was the purpose of all psychotropic drugs.
But then, you never seem to be interested in reality, just stuff you can mock here for your own amusement.
“Conversation.” I think that is a Democrat talking point for giving up your argument and accept their position. What we really need to have a “conversation” about is how easily people are manipulated into surrendering.
.
If they can numb the minds of enough voters, it will be their call!
.
Time to go buy another one.......
Yes, go away you COMMIES.
” but we need to have a conversation”
The left’s favorite phrase when they want to screw you.
.
No one can ‘handle’ any pharmaceutical drug.
They all shorten life and destroy productivity.
They Psych drugs have destroyed three generations so far, and there is no let-up in sight.
.
“Did not see a thing about that in the profiles of any of the shooters in the last years, going back to Columbine.”
Nothing about Paxil and Zoloft in any of those cases huh.
What would really help is Term limits on senators and representatives.
.
>> “It’s always amazing to watch anti-gunners call for gun control legislation before we know anything about the gunman.” <<
They scheduled this shoot, and that’s all they need to know!
Go Gov. Abbot !!!!
The Bolshies are on a roll. These “mass shootings” are not a coincidence. They are increasing in number the closer we get to the elections. Unfortunately, if you think about it, it’s only going to get worse the closer the left gets to the opportunity to get President Trump out of office. Sadly, I see a lot of dark days ahead for our country. I only hope President Trump stands his ground. I don’t want the history books down the road blaming a Republican for confiscating the firearms from the American people. Make the socialist democrats get the blame for that.
Pelosi and Schumer:
“First thing we do is punish all those who had nothing to do with the crimes. Yeah, that’s the ticket”.
.
What would really help is dumping the absentee voter rolls every year anf forcinng votors to re-request in person with ID.
The voting dead have been the key to every Democrap victory for decades.
“I’m not for the left’s “toxic masculinity” bs, but we need to have a conversation about what’s going wrong and what we have to do to fix it.”
Boys don’t learn the same way that girls do. About 50 years ago, Public Schools started catering more to the way girls learn, sitting still, paying attention, believing what they were told. Boys don’t work that way. Boys have to touch things and experience them, boys have to run and play and fight and scrap, it’s just the way it is. They mess with it to the point they have to drug the boys to keep them from behaving like boys. Meanwhile the girls are doing just fine and now represent a greater percentage of students in secondary schools. Then you have the mainstream media, filling people’s heads with fear of racist white supremacist around every corner. Someone is bound to pop. The first problem is feminism. The second problem is liberalism. Together it’s like mixing Nitro and glycerin.
