Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that a “small cohort of mainlanders have joined the demonstrations, taking extraordinary risks to support a society that offers freedoms unavailable back home.”
“My understanding is that ‘one country, two systems’ is a creative set of ideals,” a 24-year-old Chinese graduate student living in Hong Kong with the last name Chen told the paper. “Now those ideals are threatened.”
The mainlanders said they value Hong Kong’s autonomy from Chinese control and have joined marches, signed open letters supporting Hong Kong, and defended the movement on social media.
Their participation is an indication that the movement could spread to mainland China, despite attempts by the government to brand the Hong Kong protesters as traitors.
Chinese authorities are reportedly checking travelers’ smartphones as they reenter China for evidence of participation in the demonstrations.
Another mainland Chinese citizen who took part in the protests has fled to Taiwan where he is hoping to stay, according to a report by Radio Free Asia.
Zhang Wen, 47, who is sleeping on the streets in Taipei after he abandoned a tour group he arrived with, told the outlet, “I definitely don’t want to go back to mainland China now … So I have two options: I can either apply to extend my visa here, or I can apply for political asylum.”
Zhang said he crossed into Hong Kong several times in June and July to take part in the protests. He reportedly has video of himself storming the Hong Kong Legislative Council building.

Title is misleading. You’d think the mainlanders are protesting on the mainland where it’s needed.
The globalists are drooling over the whole "social credit" technology that the chinese have rolled out. Communism never works because it can never be "done right". Now they're trying to see if fascism can be "done the right way". Technology and total surveillance gives them that terrifying potential.

This sounds like a false flag by the Chinese government, inserted into the news flow to justify a crackdown.
This set of facts could be why Beijing - one of the reasons why - has stepped up its attempts to shut down the protests. I imagine the Beijing authorities know full well of mainlanders joining the protests.
Trust me, I don’t think it makes the Communist authorities “afraid”, merely more angry.
China will be a much tougher nut than USSR.
Don’t forget that Reagan had a secret covert plan to assist USSR down faster.
1.It included, tanking the price of oil with Saudi cooperation.
2. Sabotaging huge oil pipelines inside of Russia.
3. Making dummy military factories in the US and selling “secretly” selling the factories with sabotaged specification of the calibration technology to the Soviets. (This one would be optimal for ensnaring the Chicoms with their penchant for stealing our military secrets )
4. Ensnaring the USSR in a expensive arms race that they couldn’t compete or finance.
China would take a similar effort but it could be done.
The difference is they are even more murderous and have no conscience about rolling over protestors with tanks.
The Hong Kong’rs are very brave.
I think past history proves the mainland Chinese could act the same way if pushed...but casualties would be heavy.

We know NO in regard to Democrats. Trump? I’m not sure. However his trade policies proves there is hope.
We either take the Chinese down from within or we fight them later.
