Large Groups of Migrants Surrender near Sasabe (Arizona)

This week, U.S. Border Patrol agents encountered three groups of 98, 66, and 78 people east of Sasabe. The three groups, comprised mostly of Central American families, surrendered to agents after crossing the border illegally.

Tucson Sector Border Patrol has seen large groups of family units shift from the Lukeville area to Sasabe over the course of the summer.

During the months of April and May, multiple groups of several hundred people surrendered to Border Patrol agents near Quitobaquito Springs west of Lukeville. The last such group in the region was on May 28.

Since the beginning of May, a total of nine groups over 50 persons have surrendered to agents in the more rugged and mountainous terrain east of Sasabe and south of Arivaca.

Across the Tucson Sector, nearly 69% percent of Border Patrol apprehensions are single males attempting to evade arrest. The remaining 31% are families and children surrendering to agents.

Lukeville is where the construction of new 30 foot tall barrier began last week.

East of Sasabe is where DoD announced just this week that they approved construction of 14.4 more miles of barrier, with the money saved on the border wall projects approved earlier.

The highest traffic corridors get the earlier priority. The first 300-400 miles on the priority list account for the great bulk of current traffic. After that, we are increasingly targeting the likely alternative routes.

As the the border cities and Rio Grande Valley get buttoned up with new barrier, flows will divert to more rural areas, where 4WD vehicles can pass, or that are within a days walk from roads on both sides of the border.

In total, Border Patrol evaluates there is a total of about 1,100 miles of the border that will require barrier to impede such migrant flows and easy drug smuggling.

Of course, laws and policies need to change so that migrants are not able to exploit loopholes, like falsely claiming asylum.

Regardless of our laws and policies though, Border Patrol will need 1,100 miles of barrier, as well as persistent surveillance and interdiction ability across the entirety of the border, to fully control the Southern border.

The three groups, comprised mostly of Central American families - with only a sprinkling of drug mules, persons infected with communicable diseases, violent criminals returning after previous deportation, Jihadists, and other assorted undesireables -, surrendered to agents after crossing the border illegally.

I say, put them on a plane and fly them as far south as possible. Stop them off.

First. Would somebody please tell ICE and CBP at least that these are not “migrants”. They are at most ILLEGAL ALIENS.

ICE and CBP need to get a handle on what they are actually there for. It is not to intercept “migrants” it is to repel, capture and deport ILLEGAL ALIENS. To call them anything else is a lie.

I looked at the map of barriers completed, proposed and needed on the USA Today site and watched their video of the overflight of the border.

Putting barriers on the biggest unprotected portion of the border which is in Texas along the river is a daunting task. I don’t see how it can get done but to straighten the border in places and just cede the land from there to the river to no-man’s-land.

I say, put them on a bus and drop them off in the closest sanctuary city.

“Putting barriers on the biggest unprotected portion of the border which is in Texas along the river is a daunting task.”

The river floods and shifts its course over time, eroding the banks away in places. Lot’s of the riverbank is owned by private landowners. Those are reasons that most of the border without existing barrier (where so-called “new” miles could be built), are in Texas.

The main approach that will be used, is to put the barrier on top of the flood control levees. They put in gates for those left on the wrong side of the barrier, and give them individual codes for keypad access. The gates are under camera surveillance from the control center, which is alerted by sensors when the gate is open.

Send them to Dayton Ohio; it is a sanctuary city but they still shoot people here. Oh, and they will feel at home not only being shot at but they will probably meet familiar faces from back home of people in the drug gangs that run the city. Thanks mayor!

Mr. Brrittt and his night owl big brother, Mr. Ghostship, will cause a few deaths ... but by the noble sacrifice of a few illegals all illegal crossings and most of the drug traffic will come to a total halt.

Parents are guilty of child abuse. Children can be separated from child abusing parents and handed over Child Protective Services.

The act of crossing the border illegally is de facto criminal conduct and child abuse.
