Trump’s Personal Assistant, Madeleine Westerhout, Steps Down
The New York Times ^ | 08/29/2019 | Annie Karni and Maggie Haberman

President Trump’s personal assistant, Madeleine Westerhout, whose office sits in front of the Oval Office and who has served as the president’s gatekeeper since Day 1 of his administration, resigned on Thursday, two people familiar with her exit said.

Ms. Westerhout’s abrupt and unexpected departure came after Mr. Trump learned on Thursday that she had indiscreetly shared details about his family and the Oval Office operations she was part of at a recent off-the-record dinner with reporters staying at hotels near Bedminster, N.J., during the president’s working vacation, according to one of the people, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss White House personnel issues...

Ms. Westerhout, a former Republican National Committee aide who also worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, reportedly cried on election night because she was upset over Mr. Trump’s victory. As such, the president at first viewed her warily, as a late convert to his cause who could not be trusted.

Good Lord, clean your glasses!

Really? I don't know how anyone could think she's not attractive. Of course, no one's perfect. :-)

She has very likely been a mole all along.

Roger Stone was beside himself when Trump first staffed his admin in that Trump at Javanka’s recommendation was going with GOP/Never Trumper/Goldman-type appointments left and right in staffing his admin — and ignoring Roger’s dire warnings that personnel is policy.

The Never Trumpers promptly made sure no real MAGAs made it to any political appointments. Trump is still paying the price for that initial poor choice of direction today.

Someone I know that works for the POTUS told me the RNC is full of Bush people. This traitor was probably one of them.

Trump talks to the NYT all the time. As do Javanka and their PR team.

WTF is wrong with Trump? How can he let this happen?

The only answer that makes any sense is that he still doesn't realize that the Republican party, which didn't want him as a nominee in the first place let alone President, wants him gone.

No, Trump’s supporters would not have complained had Trump picked a real loyalist as AG.

This young woman’s only real job had been chief of staff to Katie Walsh at the RNC. Katie Walsh was a Priebus underling who was escorted out of the WH after two months for leaking.

Very likely this young woman has been leaking to the GOPe and the MSM for years now.

She is only 28 now and her sister, who looks just like her, has worked as a professional model. There was a time just after Trump was in the WH when Steve Pieczenik went crazy claiming that Trump’s womanizing was risking his admin. (Steve P. I don’t think has mentioned that since and continues to be a public Trump supporter.)

Trump has a unique ability to hire the worst people. I expected much better.

It will be his un-doing.

He would have done better coming to FR to hire his cabinet and staff.

It is much easier to hire in the private sector anyone that has been around DC gets swallowed up by it, there are no high expectations AND once there you are there for life!! What a gig!!! No one in government gives a shit about anything!!!! Trump is not used to such low standards he is having a difficult time I really feel for him!!

Barr, too, I think.

I’ve been in the halls of Congress once a year for almost a decade.

There are women there who make this girl look like a 3.

You have to be smart, yes, but hot seems to also be a requirement.

Yep. I have been saying this from the beginning. The absolute worse presidential personnel system in modern times. Reagan had Lyn Nofziger and John Herrington. Bush Sr. had Ron Kaufman.
Under Clinton and Obama you (literally) took a blood oath. Cross either of them and you would be Fostered (or Epsteined).

Having never been a politician, Trump had no roller deck of trusted political names. Drawing from the “general” Republican pool has been a disaster. The one exception you will note is in trade relations. His business skills helped there.

“We can probably expect her insider ‘Tell All’ book to hit the market right before the election”

I had the same thought the minute I heard about this chick being axed. And you’re probably right about her traipsing her ass among all the MSM outlets.

She probably signed some kind of NDC, so if she does get all chatty I suppose she could be sued. (Not that an NDC has prevented others from spilling their guts.)

“Trump is not used to such low standards”

That is almost worthy of bumper sticker status.

I worry about the loyalty of Ronna McDaniels, niece of Mitt Romney. I give her the benefit of the doubt at this point.

Now we know the source of so many leaks and poor personnel decisions.

Leaks? Yes. But I doubt she had anything to do with personnel decisions.
