Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein took an apparent shot at former FBI Director James Comey on Twitter Thursday and derided commentators from CNN and MSNBC following the release of the Justice Department inspector general's report.
While Rosenstein didn't explicitly mention Comey, his initial tweet quoted a letter in which he cautioned against violating Justice Department policy because of short-term circumstances.
"It is important for the Department of Justice to follow established policies and procedures, especially when the stakes are high," Rosenstein wrote.
In the preceding paragraph, he mentioned that Comey seemed to argue that circumstances justified both his disclosures about the Russia investigation and his 2016 letter about the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's emails.

Any time a Republican might win, the circumstances justify pretty much anything.
Mr Peepers comes out swinging /s
What was Comeys uncomfortable circumstance ? That Trump knows exactly who and what Comey is? Comey is a mole from our Soviet friends. like Brennan and Hussein
Rosenstein urged Trump to fire Comey and then when Trump fired him he immediately hired Mueller.
ROD ROSENSTEIN IS A PATRIOT!!! ENJOY THE SHOW!
He appointed a Special Counsel outside of the DOJ regulations that prescribe that action. There as no allegation of crime, only a counterintelligence investigation. That's like the CIA appointing a special counsel.
If I were running for President, I would declare that once elected, I am firing the entire top echelons of the DOJ and FBI, simply because its impossible to trust them not to be political.
The idea they are “unbiased, neutral LEOs” is complete BS.
Please stop posting this blatantly false information.
Trump fired Comey at Rosenstein's recommendation. The detailed rationale for this firing was documented in Rosenstein's memo to AG Jeff Sessions and Sessions' subsequent letter to President Trump.
Rosenstein didn't hire Mueller until Trump did that incredibly stupid interview with Lester Holt of NBC a few days later, in which he said he fired Comey over the Russian investigation (not the reasons outlined in the Rosenstein/Sessions documents). President Trump undermined his own Deputy AG by putting him in a position where he appeared to be complicit in firing Comey under false pretenses.
I love President Trump and my support for him has never wavered, but that idiocy with Lester Holt will go down as one of the dumbest things a U.S. president has ever done. It's astonishing that a guy like Trump who had spent two 'effing years railing against networks like NBC as "fake news" would then sit down with them and undermine his own presidency on the air.
The 4 eyed ferret signed one of the FISA warrants without even reading it !

Four eyed ferret is more euphonious, but weasel is what he is.
I want to see a game to pick James Comey’s prison nickname.
Maybe James “Squeal like a pig” Comey.
Wow! That tweet really blew my hair straight back!
Not....
Oh no, Satan Q Hitler just got a day off from the cobblers bench and managed to get a tweet off. /s
Rod pokes his head out to reconfirm that he flipped on the coupsters. He’s playing his part to the hilt when he flipped back in the day.
Because for Rod, there was no other way. Now he’s flashing his new credentials.
Yawn.
Trump fired Comey at Rosenstein’s recommendation.///
You don’t know that. Only Trump knows why he fired comey. I never saw the holt interview, but I saw Trump say on other occasions, after the fact, that he didn’t need rosenslimes memo to fire comey. He would have done it regardless.
Rosenslime appointed muleshit whom he knew to be a Trump hater. Then he sent over weisman and the other Trump haters to be on his team.
Trump misplaced his trust in swamp rats who were after him from day -70.
Nope. Rosenstein did both of those actions.
