Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey apologized on Thursday for her role in a racially insensitive skit involving blackface that her sorority put on when she was a student at Auburn University in the 1960s.
Ivey said in a statement on Thursday that while she has no recollection of the skit, or of wearing blackface, she has genuine remorse over her participation.
Though her fiance at the time, Ben LaRavia, "is the one on tape remembering the skit and I still dont recall ever dressing up in overalls or in blackface I will not deny what is obvious, Ivey said. As such, I fully acknowledge with genuine remorse my participation in a skit like that back when I was a senior in college.

"We were acting out this skit called 'Cigar Butts,'" LaRavia said in the interview, which the governor's office released. "I could not go into a lengthy explanation, but to say the least, I think this skit, it did not require a lot of talent, as far as verbal talent. But it did require a lot of physical acting, such as crawling on the floor looking for cigar butts and things like this."

One of my all time favorites Al Jolson was attacked by the little (in all ways) Spike Lee in his movie Bamboozled.
The promotional BS sessions on TV pushed the anti-white narrative of our supposedly never great nation and its allegedly worthless Founders and current white supremacist average white people.
His later movies all had huge casts of black people and Jolson actively promoted rights for black actors and ate alongside them and got them jobs in other movies. He was opposed by the execs for that. At the time blackface was not considered bad (and Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra wore blackface as seen in old stills).
Someday they will say the pre year 2090 movies should be banned for showing smoking and people married as one man and woman defined as a marriage.
Juandalynn is an a-hole. She should resign for being an a-hole because that's what she is and she will never change. There should be zero tolerance for a-holes in government.
Too late. Off with the head.
Sorta agree - I would accept public confession of misdeeds followed by flagellation. I believe in mercy.
There should be zero tolerance for a-holes in government.
Fat chance of that. Besides, do you want them running loose in the streets?
Heh, well, I wasn’t being entirely serious. Given the broad definition of ‘a-hole’ and the propensity for human beings to be human there wouldn’t be an office holder left holding any office.
I’ll have to think a while on why that would be a bad thing. But I’m sure the a-hole who came up with the idea of politicians had a good reason for it.
Wuss! My Dad wore blackface on stage, I am still proud of his act on stage that night.
People get all worked up over something like this, while HRC is living the good life, and probably always will. Sick.
I guess we had to be there to understand. As it is, the Left will have to deal with Virginia long before they have any credibility to go after Ivey.
For fook sake! They want to go back to the 1960s!!! I dont have a problem with her skit. After all didnt the Dems have KKK members serving in the Us Senate???
Alabama in the 60’s? Blackface would fit right in with George Wallace, the Klan, and the segregationist Democrat Party, and she was only a teenager in college when the alleged event took place.
Today you can wear masks, carry shields and weapons, beat conservative students and speakers on campus, and be hailed as “anti-fascist” heroes.
My how times have changed.
I’ve lived all over the united states and can tell you for fact I have NEVER heard any white person in or around Spanish Fort/Mobile, Alabama use the n-word. Not once. I have, however, heard the n-word thrown around on almost a daily basis in Youngstown, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan, Baltimore, Maryland and Rochester, NY.
Maybe the Gulf Coast is just happier than everywhere else?
