Nearing Tipping Point: What You Need To Know About Amazon Forest Fires

Unlike the United States and Canada, where many wildfires are ignited by lightning strikes during the summer, large fires are not a typical, natural occurrence in the Amazon, particularly during non-drought years such as this one.

[snip]Instead, most fires in the Amazon are caused by humans, set either accidentally or intentionally.

Brazil's National Institute for Space Research found the country has lost more than 1,330 square miles of forest cover to development since January, when President Jair Bolsonaro took office. That's a 39 percent increase over the same period in 2018. July in particular featured a huge spike in forest loss, with an area larger than the city of Los Angeles lost in a single month.

Loggers and 'Ranchers use slash & burn clearing the land. Apparently there are no laws preventing this. Is Brazil depending on aid from the rest of the world to help fight these fires that they are responsible for? As the Rain Forests are "The Lungs of The World" The World must tell the powers that be in Brazil, "slash and burn" is prohibited.....then make the consequences dire enough that the law is obeyed.

The only thing I need to know is that the forest will start growing back one second after the flame extinguishes or moves on.

I value the Amazon Forest, but I’ve been lied to so many times regarding environmental issues, I dismiss just about any claim these days.

Loggers and ranchers use slash and burn tactics?

Lungs of the world?

If it is true that the Amazon provides 20% of the world’s oxygen supply, how is it possible for the oceans to provide up to 85% of it? Even that leaves out the contributing of other forests around the planet.

As stated the disingenuous manipulative presentations of information, leads me to totally dismiss nearly all environmental hand-wringing.

I’ve been seeing these scare stories about the Amazon rainforest since I was a teenager 50 years ago.

It would be nice if the a-hole Enviro-Nazis in America and the rest of the world would use all of the outrage used against America against what is happening in the Amazon. This is not happening because the retards are using this as propaganda crisis saying the fire are raging because of “climate change”. This goes to show that the left will sacrifice anyone and everything to advance agenda irregardless of what it hurts.

There were no fires on Earth until the White Man came to the Americas.

On a serious note, I think plankton and cyanobacteria produce most of Earth’s oxygen.

Won’t all that smoke cause the global temperature to decrease?

Once the media stops the Climate Change Harangue I might pay attention. But once I hear it I shut it off.

I just know they are using old pictures from fires that are not even current.

And the “blessed environment friendly native Americans” in North America used the same “slash and burn” manner to clear new land when their old cleared land lost its fertility. It just that modern American “Greenies” deny/ignore that fact. And I’m sure it was done back in Europe as well.

On the other hand, with a chain saw and logging trucks one doesn’t have to burn the forest.

Oh but the snow flakes and hucksters are going to save the world by getting rid of all those horrible CO2 emitting internal combustion engines and fossil fuel burning power plants. Fires and clearing the Amazon won’t matter.

Here’s the thing they don’t say—a rainforest can expand rapidly if it’s not controlled. Here things will turn back into jungle in literally a couple of years.

Notice anything funny about that picture? It’s not forest that’s burning; it’s cleared land. Maybe, just maybe, farmers burning off before the new planting season.

No, that’s not what is happening.

There are timber workers who are asking for higher wages. They are burning the forest to protest. 90% man made.

So that’s forest burning in the picture attached to the story? I don’t think so.
