It was getting squeezed by the high to the north east and low to south west. Now she is blossoming. Gonna be a beast and will go where ever she wants. Let’s hope she likes fish and chips.

You need something more powerful than a bottle rocket. Even stronger than an A Bomb, but not quite at Planet Buster levels. Maybe something similar to what took the dinosaurs out ?

Cane growers and processors have, like citrus, decreased over the years. Evercane, the only refinery for sugar at the time, closed. Then Talisman, and others I probably have forgotten, have also closed. U.S.Sugar, Sugar Cane Growers Co-Op and Okeelanta remain. Like you said, cutting and harvesting is mechanical now.
This storm could very likely affect cane production this year.

OMG just watched the whole thing. That is really comprehensive!
Bernie seems to think that we should forget about the Upper level high for now since the upper level low which is moving West is controlling where Dorian goes on a NW track for now.
By sun it could all change Bernie calls is a “handoff” from the upper level low pushing Dorian to possibly a high pressure yet to be named. Here is where it all gets real fuzzy. Does it go into Florida than go north parallel the coast or not even hit Florida just go to the Carolinas? the steering is too week to predict. I don't think anyone knows.

Excellent post especially how people are making decisions at this point when no one really knows what the hell this thing will actually do it may not be possible to know.Yet decisions are made.

Roland is a great guy. I built two fishing rods for him. He took them out the next day off Islamorada and caught a 250 lb. swordfish on one of them standing up without the electric reel!! The guy is something else.

We're kinda designed for the water to flow right in on Monday and than drain right out on Tuesday.Doesn't always work but that's the plan.
As far as building codes ours are the toughest around. Very few ground level floor homes any more all are built on stilts with two or three stories max height 32 feet.first floor has to be 11 feet.
