Something similar happened to our friends in the San Fernando Valley after the Northridge earthquake. People came by wanting to assess “damage” to their house (they had none). The guy had official paperwork so they let him in. He noticed the hearth was cracked and he wanted to repair it using government money. They said that it had been cracked for a couple years, so refused the repairs and the money.

He couldn’t understand why someone wouldn’t want to help him scam the government. Like your guy, he wasn’t happy.

Are you kidding me!? Fort Pierce is NOT sparsely populated. West of town yes but st Lucie county also hosts Port St. Lucie, which is a New York mini-me.

No good news in the forecast. I can add that the coastal area in the bullseye of the FL landfall forecast is already water logged with standing water/ponding from very heavy and persistent rains over the past several weeks.

Thanks, Maskot.

My niece and family are in Ft. Pierce and it should not be belittled because of population.

She and family are very precious to me.

Thanks - incredible, isn’t it? Those who defraud their own companies are also defrauding other people who use insurance. But thank God for insurance when it’s needed.

Morning Nurse. Yes, no good news in the forecast. In fact, it’s worse news. You hang in there and prayers to you. Also, thank you for the excellent updates and the thread.

I talked to my friend in Port Saint Lucie last night and he said bottled water and bread have been gone since Wednesday (as well as gasoline).

Don’t these people have faucets in their house?

Wal-Marts re-stock Thurs nights.

For water go to WM, Lowes, Home Depot and get a few 5 gal. jugs. They can be filled either with the name brand in the store or bought empty and filled at any water box (Glacier, Windmill, etc.) outside stores, malls, etc. It’s $1.25 for 5 gals vs. $3 for 4.5 gals in a 48x12oz case of bottled water. And the water boxes don’t run out of water. But not as convenient.

Yeah, both the ideas of a slowing storm and the ever-increasing intensity forecasts are not good at all for the Fla Atlantic coast.

Thanks! We’ve been “friends” for 1.5 years, just both too busy to take it any further.

I’ve actually lost sleep, like a kid on Christmas Eve!

“Don’t these people have faucets in their house?”

I’ll break it down for you. FL is low elevation and the whole state is on top of an aquafer. During hurricanes the storm surge and heavy rain usually contaminates ground water. I.e. saltwater, rainwater, runoff and sewage flood into the aquafer. This usually overwhelms municipal water filtration capabilities resulting in ‘boil water’ warnings. No one wants to drink cooked sewage so... bottled water.

I came out of retirement to become a roadie. I carry the title proudly, and it gets me out of jams, even if a bit of an understatement. “You’ll need to ask the Front Of House Engineer, ma’am, I don’t know if they’ll play Freebird or not. I’m just a roadie.”

Loading sounds and lights in and out of trucks, analyzing venue acoustics and speaker arrays using a local client computer connected to a Meyer supercomp online, programming light shows, raising truss and lights, and mixing sound, monitors and FOH.

They are PAYING me to do what I have paid FOR in the past!

But the week of July 4th was one 8 hour day, one 19 hour day, and three 40 hour days.

A bit long for this decrepit 58 yo fossil!
