Also, a pu**y, but we'll get to that.
A twitter rando, apparently a professor, made a minor joke at Bret Stephens' expense. Noting that the New York Times had an infestation of bedbugs, he wrote, "The bedbugs are a metaphor. The bedbug is Bret Stephens."
Well, Bret Stephens had a meltdown that could be considered "Jake Tapper-like."
A few hours later, Karpf [the professor] posted 'This afternoon, I tweeted a brief joke about a well-known NYT op-Ed columnist. It got 9 likes and 0 retweets. I did not @ him. He does not follow me. He just emailed me, cc'ing my university provost. He is deeply offended that I called him a metaphorical bedbug.' Karpf then posted the email below:
'Dear Dr Karpf,Stephens regularly addresses the fragility of campus activists and importance of free speech at universities in his Times columns. Presumably this is why his thin-skinned attempt to report a professor to his superiors for something he said online has been met with such a gleeful response:'Someone just pointed out a tweet you wrote about me, calling me a "bedbug." I'm often amazed about the things supposedly decent people are prepared to say about other people -- people they've never met -- on Twitter. I think you've set a new standard.
'I would welcome the opportunity for you to come to my home, meet my wife and kids, talk to us for a few minutes, and then call me a "bedbug" to my face. That would take some genuine courage and intellectual integrity on your part. I promise to be courteous no matter what you have to say.
'Maybe it will make you feel better about yourself.
'Please consider this a standing invitation. You are more than welcome to bring your significant other.
'Cordially,
'Bret Stephens'

Bedbug Stephens denies he was trying the get the guy in trouble with his bosses by linking in his bosses in the email complaint.
Because Bedbug Stephens is a filthy cowardly liar:
Yashar Ali 🐘 ✔ @yashar Wow. A friend just sent this to meThere are several problems with Bedbug Stephens' response.Bret Stephens was asked about the Bedbug controversy on MSNBC by @ChrisJansing
Bret says he wasnt trying to get @davekarpf in any professional trouble when he copied his provost on the email he sent him.
What?
First of all, he responds at all to a guy on Twitter making a minor joke.
Second of all, his response to a critic is to say "come over and let me cook you dinner." As a friend said, Bedbug Stephens did everything short of offering this guy an hour inside of his wife.
But third of all -- this is the typical NeverTrump/Ruling Class passive-aggressive simpering effeminate coward cuck bullsh**t.
Clearly, Bedbug Stephens was trying to get this guy into trouble.
Does Bedbug Stephens take care of this (very slight) affront himself? Does he ask this guy to step outside to talk about it?
No, this effeminate coward tells on him. Like Cindy Brady. Like a coward.
And also note how... David Frenchian his tactics are. He wants to be aggressive, he wants to play the bully. But his egotistical self-conception of himself is that he's above that thuggish, Trumpian aggression.
So, in an email which he copies to someone's boss, trying to get the guy in trouble at his job, he then pulls the Pious Pharisee act that David French has perfected, pretending his real goal is just to further the cause of the civil exchange of ideas.
In an email clearly seeking to get this guy punished by his boss for a tweet, he pulls the David French move of saying, "Please, do come over and I'll cook a meal for you."
He can't admit that he's trying to play the bully, so he plays the bully while pretending to be a high-minded cuck just interested in serving a critic a good meal and his wife's vagina.
These guys talk about virtue and civility, but they're poisoning those things by making them seem like the hustles of vindictive sissies.
Everyone can see these people are vindictive sissies using "virtue" and "civility" as a silk handkerchief disguising a dagger -- thus making people associate supposed "virtue" and "civility" with cowards, sissies, cucks, sneaks, and vindictive bullying b*tches who don't have the muscles to be actual bullies, so they just tell on you to your boss.
Nothing undermines the teachings of a church than a venomous hypocrite of a preacher, making a mockery of the church's teachings even as he piously mouths them.
These effeminate non-men do little but undermine adherence to the virtues they claim so strenuously to support.
Had he ignored the comment no one would have known about it.
Lol. This was funny. Hope the nickname sticks.
I’m too sensitive and emotional. I may have told him i’m gonna #### him up.
And then not followed through after having time to cool down :)
I have to work on that.
But I wouldn’t invite him to dinner. SMH
Snitches get stitches.
Had he ignored the comment no one would have known about it.

Fredo-esque.
Bret Stephens is an assumed name.

He was just ‘making him aware’. What a d*****bag.
The media is trying to call him “a conservative”.
Bedbug should call Fredo for a sympathetic ear.
I didn't believe you the first time, but now I do. /:)
BRET STEPHENS: *hangs up the phone*
Now that there was funny.
I would have called is bluff and offered to meet him, anytime anyplace.
Another fake Conservative I have no use for.
I am no fan of Bret Stephens, the fake Conservative columnist at the New York Times.
But, can someone explain to me what is going on with the pornographic junior high school post at “Ace of Spades?”
First of all, who wrote the AOS post? I don’t see a name.
Second, AOS is calling Stephens a coward, and the “P” word, and demanding he fight the offending professor.
Third, AOS is claiming that Stephens is offering his wife as a sex partner to the offending professor.
Bottom Line - this is one of the most bizarre and juvenile links I have ever seen posted at Free Republic.
Agreed...
Looks like the AOS author is trying to trigger the bedbug guy even more.
What’ll happen next?
The internet waits with baited breath.
Sorry that his vulgar sense of humor bothers your sensibilities. We’re in the middle of a bloodless (for now) civil war, and thankfully Ace well Trump and his 60M voters know what time it is. We’ve tried being civil with these lunatics numerous times, and it didn’t work out. I hope that someday we can return to an era of genteel politics, but I wouldn’t count on it.
