Boris Johnson has waded into the escalating trade row between the US and China, saying he wants to see tariffs removed.
Speaking to reporters en route to the G7 summit in Biarritz, the British prime minister said he was very, very concerned about the tit-for-tat conflict between the US and China
...Asked about the issue on Saturday, Johnson said: This is not the way to proceed. Apart from anything else, those who support the tariffs are at risk of incurring the blame for the downturn in the global economy, irrespective of whether that is true.
I want to see an opening up of global trade, I want to see a dialling down of tensions, and I want to see tariffs come off.

Hey, Boris, why don’t you get your own house in order before poking your nose in ours?
Looks like quotes taken out of context in order to make some Fake News.
Anything major will be fraught with issues. But assuming both leaders are enthused about this, it’s within the realm of possibility that they could wield a sword to slice through the Gordian Knot.
To be fair - Boris is expected to make some noises about what is a major, major GLOBAL issue.
Anything the US does is a global issue because the USA is a 10,000 pound gorilla in a cage of rabbits.
If the USA-China trade war lasts longer, it affects (positively or negatively) nearly every single country.
As i’ve pointed out before - foreigners have an opinion on what the USA President does, but ask them about the President/Leader of a country near-by and they know far less. That is because the USA MATTERS. Anything the USA does affects everyone on the planet.
the UK is affected if the world economy goes down due to the trade war. Boris MUST say something about this
Boris Johnson needs to be patient. The tariffs will come off as soon as China makes a deal. Once China realizes they are on the losing slide, they will have to come to the table before they fall into an irreversible collapse. They are quickly headed there right now.
BoJo took the chance to pander to China.
And he didn’t bark at Beijing for HK protesters. China will appreciate his stance and kindness.
Amazing that these people are elected to lead a country and they don’t have a lick of common sense. The President of the United States has stated, as nauseum, that there would be no tariffs if the US and whatever country they’re dealing with would have actual Free Trade. Where the US is allowed to sell merchandise in that country and that country is allowed to sell their crap in ours.
It’s a very simple concept. However, the rest of the world has been taking advantage of the US for so long that they don’t know any different. Now that scales are being leveled, they don’t know how to react.
You can’t always get what you want, but sometimes, you get what you need.

I sure hope so, since last I heard, Trump offered Boris/England a great UK/USA trade deal...
If not a misquote, someone needs to tell Boris to STFU.
Boris, don’t interrupt.
Yes, Free Trade For All.
Globalists love their slogans.
No more tariffs. China must retroactively pay their 10 to 1 tariffs charged, the past 40 years, to all Americans.
I agree with Boris Johnson.
I await my Free Trade China check for $200,000.
Demand your FREE TRADE CHECK $$
Yes, let the raping stop and everyone hug. /sarcasm
It is not a “war” it is trade skirmish. It is about a few billion in a $22T economy used as propaganda to scare Americans into accepting “globalism..
Make the tariffs permanent . If Trump did that he would insure victory in 2020.
Hyped “trade war” over a few $billion in potential tariffs in a US economy of $22T. LOL
Please, can we stop hitting the panic button?
So what that China stopped importing US Soybeans? So what that China is looking to fill their supply from Russia since Brazil cant produce enough?
Europe still needs soybeans, too. Who will they be buying them from? The U.S.
So what if Apples Chinese made iPads are slapped with a tariff for being sold in the U.S.? Apple will fill the U.S. market from a different Southeast Asian country and use their Chinese production to satisfy other global markets.
The global market is MUCH bigger than one country ... even if that country is the U.S.A.
All this angst is really nothing more than a Supply Chain issue, but we can make a difference in the long run if we can convince American companies to invest in America and American allies.
That’s nice Boris. How about we let the ChiComs rip off the UK instead of the US?
