For the second time since classes resumed at public schools in St. Louis this month, grief counselors will be on hand at an elementary school on Monday to comfort friends of 8-year-old Jurnee Thompson, a third-grader gunned down while standing in front of a restaurant with relatives following a football game.
Since April, nine children under the age of 17 have been killed by gun violence in the city of St. Louis, and authorities say no one has been charged in any of the slayings.
"We are all at risk," a frustrated St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said at a news conference on Saturday. "If you are as outraged as I am ... please help."

Seems that it’s only those on the left or who votes for the left are irresponsible with guns. So the solution is simple, either bring gun belts back into style and everyone carry, or there needs to be liberal gun confiscation since 90% of democrats commit the crime.
We are supposed to have good citizens give up the 2nd Amendment and all guns in order to somehow cause criminals and irresponsible parents to keep THEIR gun violence from taking place. Just have them obey today’s laws and the “gun free zone” signage. Leave the rest of us alone.

The only gun control law I support is if a gun is used 10 sentence for the first offense plus the original sentence , 20 years added on to the second, and life for the third. If a gun was fired double the time.

Enhancements for crimes using guns are often separate felonies in addition to the predicate felony, and which are plea bargained away for a guilty plea on the original charge.
Used that way they are useless except to the criminal being charged with one felony instead of two & prosecuters’ convenience in lessening the trial docket load..

Well, the moslem mayor of London says that urban violence is just part of living in the big city....so there.
For those who don’t know, STL is a physically small city, hemmed in by the surrounding St Louis County, which it is not a part of. It is a very segregated city as well, with separate white and black neighborhoods. The white neighborhoods are reasonably safe and the black neighborhoods are gang infested. Each gang’s ‘turf’ is relatively small and the gang violence tends to occur at gang boundaries. Each gang might have only a few blocks of control.
It is very sad. The politicians dare not say what the real problem is, so they blame guns for the deaths when, in fact, it is the residents.
The good news is that as STL’s population drops, it will be soon too small to count the most dangerous city surveys.
