Due to the recent mass shootings, there is a major push for so-called red flag gun laws at both the state and federal levels. These laws are the latest tool for gun control advocates to confiscate guns from people based upon only tips and suspicion. No crime has to be committed to trigger an investigation or confiscation.
Red flag laws violate multiple rights protected by our constitution. The Hill has an excellent article on how red flag laws violate more than the 2nd Amendment, including:
What could possibly go wrong?

The Second was always meant to protect the First.
Now violating the First leads to violating the Second.
...is a dead one.
Like the old 60’s and 70’s bumpers sticker that said the only good commie is a dead commie. Or better dead than red. That was of course when we were a bit smarter about some things as a country.
There’s no difference, at least to me, between a commie and a gun-grabber.
hundreds? What business is it of theirs how much ammo they have? The constitution does not forbid any amount- and liek you say- that is a fun day at a range- or an amount someone who likes to practice woudl use daily, or once a week or whatever-
Reloaders often reload hundreds of rounds at a time- it;s no business of anyone how many rounds someone has- the guns this kid’s father had were low round guns unless he had an illegal banana clip or something- which he didn’t- so he and his father did absolutely nothing illegal-
Red Flag laws are an end run around our constitutional rights- our INALIENABLE right to self defense
The following is a synopsis of the following USAToday article beleive it or not:
Red Flag laws suspend people’s constitutional rights by doing secretive hearings which deny the defendant the right to defend himself basically-
They have no say- they can ‘appeal the decision’ later- but who has the time, or money needed to defend themselves when they are INNOCENT to begin with?
The innocent owner is being punished not for a crime they committed, as required by our constitution- - but for a crime that hasn’t happened, which someone THINKS they MIGHT commit- the owner is financially crippled because someone THINKS they might someday ‘Do Something’- they are arrested based on someone’s SUBJECTIVE OPINION, usually the SUBJECTIVE OPINION of an anti-gun gun grabbing liberal!
100’s of 1000’s of veterans have lost their right to own guns based on similar laws- and only 50 or so have ever successfully regained their right to get back THEIR OWN GUNS- many couldn’t likely afford to appeal the decisions of the court-

Before I write anything else, let me be clear. Wagshol is not some squeaky-clean, innocent angel. He wrote some vile racist and transphobic tweets. He also seemed to taunt the FBI in his tweets, which certainly isnt the smartest thing in the world to do.
That being said, holding bigoted views is not the same things as acting on those views. Voicing his bigoted opinions, while disgusting, is not a criminal act. The First Amendment protects his right to voice his hate in the same way that it protects flag burning. No one has to like it, but its not a criminal act.
Wagshol may also have been caught in a few lies made on Facebook. According to Norwalk police Lt. Terry Blake:
A Facebook page for the younger Wagshol said he was a former U.S. Marine and worked at the Department of Homeland Security as a janitor. Blake said both of these statements on Facebook are untrue. (source)
Wagshol also admitted to purchasing four 30-round magazines at a Bass Pro Shop in New Hampshire to circumvent Connecticut law limiting magazines to ten rounds. Wagshol is now facing four felony counts for possessing those magazines.
Whether or not you support Connecticuts ban on 30-round magazines, he will be found guilty under current CT law for possessing them.
Finally, Wagshol did admit to ordering a kit to build an AR. A lot of preppers and gun enthusiasts have done the exact same thing. Thats more than understandable with the government chomping at the bit to enact more gun control. Wagshol will likely be in legal trouble in CT for that too.
This kid was a legitimate nut case and whatever argument supporting potential future "Red Flag" laws, he certainly met all of them...............
The Feds didn't just stop at his front door, he invited them........
I’m not seeing much that says he’s a nutcase.
[[Wagshol may also have been caught in a few lies made on Facebook.]]
Hmmm, lies you say- gee- CNN must be downright mobsters then- when did it become a crime to lie on the internet? This isn’t directed at you but at the police who confiscated his guns based on these things-
Now- regarding his breaking the law- He hasn’t been tried yet for those couple of illegal activities- and the fact remains that guns were not his that were confiscated- As far as we know, he wasn’t barred yet from having guns in the house—
I’m not saying he shouldn’t be investigated based on some of the facts, but for lying? No- for taunting? No- (Unless he made direct threats to the FBI which it doesn’t say if he did or not)
The banned clips- ok- it sucks that that is a law, but it’s the law- The “AR”- is that a full auto? Or an AR-15 replica? Doesn’t say- I think only certain guns in the gun grabbing CT have been banned- but i dunno-
My comments mainly though are about the unconstitutionality of the red flag laws- and hte massive massive potential for abuse- see my last post-
oh dang forgot the link to usatoday article doh! here it is:
OK, I was wrong. LOL!!!!!
Thank you for making my point.........Either he should or he shouldn't, there's no in between.
my point is they are violating his father’s constitutional rights for cofniscating his guns under the ‘red flag lw’
Im just saying we would need to see his actual comments. What counts as racist or offensive today is often just common sense made politically incorrect.
Tough call isn't it? What are you gonna do if the kid has known major problems and also access to the firearms in his own house that belong to the father?
Adam Lanza used his mother's rifle to first kill her then proceed on to the Sandy Hook elementary school........
Lots of folks here at that time said he should have been on a watch list.....
Like I said, it's a tough call and tough decisions have to be made.........
A guy in one of my training classes wears 5.11 head to toe, every day.
They make great stuff. If I could afford it Id wear it every day.

If you are depending on the Supreme Court, I believe that you are depending on a broke stick. That may not be the case, but time will tell.
