RUSH: Now, the AP has a story touting their latest poll. Are you ready? 62% disapprove of how Trump is handling his job. You might think, Whoa! Rush, thats horrible! Oh, my God! All of this criticism of Trump is working. Sixty-two percent.
Nearly eight in 10 Republicans approve of Trumps overall job performance. Eighty percent of Republicans. This is hidden in the story. You have to dig deep. You have to be talented. You have to know where to go to find this Drive-By Media stuff. Eighty percent of Republicans approve of Trumps overall job performance. Sixty-two percent of the country disapprove. How do those numbers work out? Whats the polling sample here?
Heres their story. About 6 in 10 Americans disapprove of President Donald Trumps overall job performance, according to a new poll released Thursday by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, which finds some support for the presidents handling of the U.S. economy but gives him weak marks on other major issues. Just 36% of Americans approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president; 62% disapprove.
Now, listen to this next. The numbers may be ugly for a first-term president facing reelection in 14 months, but they are remarkably consistent. Trumps approval rating has never dipped below 32% or risen above 42% in AP-NORC polls since he took office.
No other president has stayed within so narrow a band. Since Gallup began measuring presidential approval, Trump is the only president whose rating has never been above 50%. Still, several Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush logged ratings worse than Trumps lowest rating so far at some point during their time in office.

Now, I wonder why that is? Anybody want to take a stab at explaining why that might be? Several presidents, Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush logged ratings worse than Trumps lowest rating so far at some point during their time in office.
Trumps poor grades in the AP-NORC poll extend to his handling of several key issues: immigration, health care, foreign policy and guns. So basically the APs telling us that the country that elected Trump to fix immigration, to fix health care, to protect the Second Amendment, is being overwhelmingly disapproved in his job performance in those issues. I dont think thats the case.
Now, look, we gotta live with the polling data. It is what it is. If youre gonna talk about it once, you cant discount it here and accept it over there. But you can dig deep into the crosstabs and find out who the sample was, what the sample size was, what the demographic and political party affiliation breakdown was. And then you can assign the objective purpose of the poll.
And the opening statement here where Trump gets credit for the economy da-da-da-da yeah remarkably consistent, Trumps doing okay on the economy but all this other stuff is kind of where the problem is. But the problems that Trumps having are all with Democrats. Hes still at 80% approval with Republicans, and in some polls at 92%.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: So I checked the email during the break. And, you know, when I get emails like this, Im alternately (admittedly) a little disappointed and, on the other hand, excited but thrilled that I get a chance to explain something again. (sniveling) Mr. Limbaugh, how can you be so cavalier and so unconcerned about a poll? I dont care whose poll it is, Mr. Limbaugh. How can you be so unconcerned about a poll showing the president disapproval at 62%? Even if youre faking it, its still not good. My friends, Im not cavalier about it. I just dont panic.
It doesnt mean anything right now. How about if I directed you to another direction. Theres a simple other part of that poll. Over 80% of Republicans thumbs up on the job Trump is doing. What does that mean? Means trump is holding his base. Theres another measure that in politics is far more meaningful than this stuff cause theres a poll every day. And theyre different! There isnt any other poll out there that shows Trump at 62% disapproval. This is AP. They hate Trump. Take a look at the fundraising numbers. Trump is stomping everybody.
Trump is raising in the state of Washington, hes raised more money in a state that hes not gonna win, hes raised more money than the top five Democrat presidential candidates combined. You have to put all this stuff in context. This is an outlier, and its not part of a trend. Its part of an agenda. And you have to keep that in mind. Thats how I digest this stuff. Is there reason to be concerned? Well, yeah. Wed love it to be the other way around, but we dont live in that kind of atmosphere. We dont live in that kind of country now.
We are a divided country, folks. The days of finding a coalition where the strength of it is the center, thats not where we are. The people gonna win this election whichever base is the largest and turns out. All this talk about, Rush, the moderates, the great unwashed, the undecideds, the centrists and so forth
Are there any centrists out there of any significance, in terms of number? This is an entirely different and this poll, of course, assumes that everythings rosy and peachy keen on the Democrat side, and it isnt. They are in a royal mess on the Democrat side psychological, financially, in any number of ways.
All he has to do is finish the traitors off and this will mean nothing.
I ignore all polls. Polls are for dancers.
Same here. A majority of Freepers who YELLED in 2016 “SEE? polls are fake!”..now believe the same polls that show Trump leading. Amazing..
My one concern is how he is doing with suburban America. Last election we took a hit in the affluent suburbs. I think his team needs to spend some time figuring out how to get that group somewhat back in the food.
I just want to know why anyone should ever believe the Asspress about anything.
The polls are irrelevant. What will decide election results is the Democrat big city vote padding. The cities report After the rural areas and small cities have reported so that the Democrat Machines will know how many votes to add to overcome any Republican majority in the rest of the state.
Drudge who has become an absolute enemy highlights this as a shock poll. Then the story says that this has been Trump’s rating in this particular poll all along. Rush took a call about Drudge today but he would not criticize Drudge.
Drudge’s headlines also state that Trump is responsible for a recession which has never happened.
Rush allowed his caller to say Drudge is disappointed with border control. However, the fact is Drudge turned on Trump when Trump refused to allow transgenders in the military.
I love that term.
Not concerned here.
Pollsters using old techniques are missing “most” of the electorate. I would not put much faith in them on the “technical” aspect of them.
I think by the end of the democratic primaries, their people will be burned out. That leaves our folks invigorated.
We are in a real WAR with the left. When a person realizes this, the media is all propaganda. It needs to get out that if you still like Trump, you are not alone. Watching your tv, going to any news sight, listening to anything nearly, would make one think,Am I really a racist NAZI?
If you spend 20 minutes a day reading a newspaper, watching ‘news’ on TV, or taking in propaganda/entertainment you’re amazed Trump’s polling as high as he is...
Then add in the shaming by our ‘betters’ and it’s a wonder any of us is even willing to talk to a liberal pollster...no less tell them the truth.
From the website:
The nationwide poll was conducted August 15-19, 2019, using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 1,058 adults. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.
No party breakdown apparently, but this is a previously picked group of respondents, lol.
Thanks for the lecture. I like to report situations to our fellow Freepers.
Exactly correct about Drudge. I notice that Rush still has The Drudge Report as his home page. When I wake up, I look at Breitbart, then occasionally glance at Drudge for the “other side’s” view. It’s practically 180. I still support Rush, but he MUST get real about Drudge.
After Hillary’s glorious, poll-predicted victory in 2016, I put ALL the money on polls.
Half as few voters in 2018 as there were in 2016.
Face it, the democrats did a better job on getting out the vote than we did. Millions of Trump voters aren’t necessarily fans of Lindsay Graham, Paul Ryano, Mitch McConnell, etc.
We need to make sure Trump voters get out and vote is all.
Rush also said that google sent out messages to all the democrat voters reminding them to vote on election day.
Why can’t we do that?
Sure, Google might have “known” who those people were, but this is a great project for us to be involved in, too. A registry of Conservative, republican and libertarian voters. Add a whole bunch that haven’t gone full “Leftard”, and we have a win.
