Gov. Ron DeSantis has agreed to allow Florida to join a national electronic center to exchange voter registration data with other states, an effort long-sought by county supervisors of elections.
DeSantis said Wednesday Florida will become the 29th state to participate in the Electronic Voter Registration Information Center, known as "ERIC," a consortium of states known that share voter registration information.
DeSantis announced the move during an appearance with county election officials at the Orange County supervisor of elections office in Orlando, saying the effort will ensure the integrity of voter-registration lists.
Its my judgment it makes the most sense, especially given the fact that we have a lot of people moving into the state, DeSantis said.
State lawmakers last year passed a measure allowing Florida to join ERIC, which aims to reduce duplicate voter registrations.
Data matches by the center can identify voters registered in two states, those who have moved between states, and those who have died, which allows county elections officials to identify and remove people who are no longer eligible to vote in the state.2.

New York and New Jersey, home states for many seasonal Floridians with more than one residence, are not part of the consortium.
Should address things like Michael Moore being registered to vote in Michigan and New York at the same time.
Id be interested in finding out how many out of state college students vote at school, AND absentee at Moms address.
Maybe we could end up winning a ‘blue’ state that’s not really blue. New Hampshire comes to mind with all those Taxachussit vagabonds but they probably didn’t’t vote in their home state.
This will help plug up the gush of double voting Democrats who live in Queens NYC and Boca and vote DEMOCRAT in each state.
What jail time is involved for that violation? Shouldn't we be actively searching out and reporting the violators?
In this day and age we need a national voter registration data base.
Some NYers I know justify double registration by saying they have a right to vote in school election up N. They pay property taxes in 2 states.
I fully support this action by Gov DeSantis. Florida has a very large number of residents who live half year in Florida and the other half year in their home state.
We need to take away the opportunity people could have to vote in two states.
If a person is registered to vote in more than one state, this system will highlight the multiple registrants and then it is easy to verify whether they voted in more than one state.
I’m moving toward that opinion. I wouldn’t oppose such a law.
