No, I’m not a disabled vet.
My basis of knowledge.....guys I work with that brag about getting 40% for bad knees but do the daily Crossfit WOD without any issues.
Or the Psychologist that I took a class with that volunteers at one of the VA hospitals in Florida, who is also a vet, telling me stories about how a welfare dependent class of people has been created. Where they score worse on skills tests than folks with full blown Alzheimer’s so they can collect over $3000/month
Or one of my closest friends that took a class at the US Shooting Academy, also a vet but doesn’t collect any disability, listen to 3 guys tell him how they scam the system, are collecting 100% for PTSD, while blowing doors off their hinges.
Or someone very close to me, spent most of their 6 years in the Army in admin positions. Never deployed. Maybe a few field exercises and some ruck marches. Getting $1800/month.

All that being said, as long as illegals and refugees can pour into this country by the thousands and stay here by the millions, all collecting some type of benefit, then as much as I can bitch about this, I’m happy to see these men and women get something. They volunteered and served their country. They deserve it, if they deserve it.
As I stated, if someone is legitimately disabled, then by all means, give them whatever they deserve and then some. I have a close friend that was in the turret of an MRAP that hit an IED in Afghanistan, in 2009, and he’s still dealing with that.
My nephew, upon getting out, spoke with the VA pimps that tried to convince him to claim a disability. Telling him it was “free money”.
I’m all about the VA fixing guys if they’re broken. If someone shows that they have a knee problem that was service related and down the road they may need a knee replacement. Then by all means head to the VA and get one. Hell, I’d rather they use their VA benefit to go to a private doctor that specializes in knee replacements and have the VA pay for it. I could hand that check over with a smile on my face. Doesn’t mean the guy should collect over $1000 a month, for life, for it.
If you spend a lot of time at the VA, that’s awesome. But there a lot of folks you don’t see, that get a check every month.

PTSD can quality you for a 70% disability; tens of thousands of our kids coming back from The Sandbox with that, not to mention missing limbs, etc.

Agreed. I’m an Army Vet, 1983 - 1987, then taught for the DOD as a civilian UMUC professor in Europe and Asia for 8 years until the big drawdown of 2007. Time for Trump to either eliminate the corrupt H1B and H4EAD programs that bring in almost 100k Indians and Communist Chinese each year to take American jobs. I was stupid enough to get 2 STEM MSc degrees in Computer Science and Management Information Systems. My MSc in Aviation can’t be used due to losing my perfect eyesight after being rear-ended on the Stevenson after returning to the US from overseas. Can’t even buy a decent job to pay off my student loans. Thousands of other Americans are stupid as well. Most can’t buy a job as well as long as the Republocrats keep bringimg in planeloads of Indians and Communist Chinese to take our jobs. How about some fairness. Either eliminate the loans we can’t pay off or eliminate the corrupt Indian workfare program known as H1B.

I’m a vet too - used my GI Bill for college and never accrued any debt from it.
I didn’t say it bothered me. I simply asked if it covered service related disabilities only.
