The Point is a collection of short articles posted on FrontPageMag by Greenfield on current topics. I recommend an occasional look at the Sultan Knish blog. It is a rich source of materials, links and more from one of the preeminent writers of our age.

I lived in Germany for 12 years and none of the houses I lived in had A/C. I had to get one of those big noisy things where you literally pump the heat out of the room you put it in. There are mostly terra-cotta block houses which are nearly impossible to upgrade. Once those things get hot though, they are like ovens!

Hottest temp ever recorded in Oklahoma was 120 degrees, in 1936.

Must have been those Okies getting in their SUVs and fleeing to California that heated up the air.

The underlying agenda and point of the global environmental movement is population control as the true end result.

Do Americans Need Air-Conditioning?” a New York Times piece asked in July. Air conditioning, it argued, is bad for the environment and makes us less human. NYT’s writers putting down Americans as they write their articles from the comfort of the NYT’s building that is wait for it.. Air Conditioned!

I grew up in a house without air conditioning. We sweltered in summer. That's just the way it was. Summers during high school I worked as a greens keeper on a golf course, out in the sun all day. A "good day" was when we had a thunderstorm. Now I have air conditioning in my old age. I'm grateful for it.

Around 10 years ago i was up in Vermont during a nasty heat wave.
My hotel room had no AC, the restaurants had no AC i was like WTF?
The typical answer was “Up here in Vermont we don’t do AC”

ARGH

At one point i went to a theater to cool down and watch the Bond flick Casino Royal.
Frigging crazy people...

PS funny thing that was the last time i’ve been to a theater since..
