If an armed conflict broke out between Beijing and Washington, China’s hi-tech ballistic missiles would likely cripple the United States’ military bases and naval fleet across the Western Pacific region within hours, a new report by Australia-based researchers has said.
With China making rapid technological advancements and sharpening its hard power, the report urged the US and regional allies such as Australia and Japan to overhaul military investment and deployment plans, or face the prospect of American “military primacy” being undermined by the Asian power.

Serious people have been very concerned with the military implications of China’s modernization for 20 years.
China is rapidly becoming a serious military power while the US continues to become hollowed out.
Trump is Hollowing out China now, like Reagan busted the USSRs balls, you are correct these thing take a wide arc, 25, 50, 100 years.
Please study current US capabilities. China has one aircraft carrier. We have over twenty. Our tanks are virtually indestructible. We have ships that can shoot down ballistic missiles. We have a strong mix of 4th and 5th generation fighter aircraft. Our military helicopters are very powerful. Our Army and Marine Corps are full of combat veterans, whereas China hasn’t really fought a war since 1953.
70 years ago Russia and China were our allies.
A very flighty relationship, but a common enemy.
Now those enemy’s are perceived as the most peaceful folks on the planet.
How did we get there? An iron fist and a velvet glove.

I have several Chinese firearms, craftsmanship is spotty, same with ammo, Soviet bloc stuff too.
I would not want to me on the wrong end of it but we have superior firepower.
