President Trump Nominates More Judges for the Federal Bench

The White House announced Wednesday afternoon President Trump has nominated a number of additional judges to sit on the federal bench. Here is the list:

-Steven J. Menashi of New York, to serve as Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit

-Jodi W. Dishman of Oklahoma, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma

-Karen S. Marston of Pennsylvania, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania

-Richard E. Myers II of North Carolina, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina

-Sarah E. Pitlyk of Missouri, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri

The U.S. Senate is currently in August recess, but Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to get as many judges confirmed as possible by the end of the year. Before skipping town, the Senate confirmed more than a dozen judicial nominees. From The Hill

The Senate confirmed 13 of President Trump's judicial picks this week, helping clear the deck ahead of the five-week August recess.
The nominees were split up throughout the week with four confirmation votes taking place on Tuesday and nine on Wednesday, three of which were by voice votes.

"For too long fairly uncontroversial judicial nominees just like these have been held up and delayed by our Democratic colleagues even when the vacancy qualifies as a judicial emergency. Uncontroversial district judges used to be confirmed promptly in big groups by voice vote," Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said from the Senate floor ahead of the votes on Wednesday.

So far, Trump's greatest achievement.

Rebuilding the Federal bench. For decades to come.

The Never Trumpers ought to be ashamed of themselves.

im sure PDJT will select the best people he can find,
but if he nominates inmates from the lunatic asylum
for the 9th Circus, it will still be a MAJOR improvement

But Trump struck out with this RINO recommended by Mulvaney. He’s not been confirmed yet. Hopefully Trump pulls the nomination.

They need to speed it up. There is no guarantee Trump will win in 2020.

Fine. How many of these district judges are vetted and ok’d by the Federalist Society.

Need 10 to 15 Federalist appeals court judges nominated by Labor Day. How many 80 yr old judges that are GOP confirmed are moving to senior status. Only one now is Carlos Bea 9th ckt.

Slight correction. First judge in article is for one of the two vacancies in 2nd ckt. Three more vacancies are 2nd ckt, 5th ckt, and 9th ckt.

Mitch needs to “push” GOP 80 yr old’s to senior ASAP. They are taking one for the team. Reduced workload, not retirement.

Mitt is presently intriguing with Harry Reid. No shame.

Looks to me as though Mulvaney was pro “religious liberty” and against the judge’s ruling.

Mulvaney, Pompeo and about 70 other republicans wrote a letter AGAINST that judge.

Did I read it incorrectly?

GOP-e often start out principled before the swamp gets the tentacles in, e.g. John McCain.

Mulvane pushed this judge for a GOP-e reason.

Senate is on vacation. I don’t believe any judges will be confirmed before Labor Day.

Excellent.

It is important to have judges who rule based on the Constitution and the law, not based on Dem agenda.

Unfortunately as we have seen it only takes a few hack federal judges to issue injunctions and apply them nation wide to cripple the executive branch. Very few times has a good judge smacked down one of these hacks and when one does another Rat judge steps in. I think if Trump wins in 20 he will have to go Andy Jackson if he wants to sustain the agenda.

I believe that Second Circuit nominee (Steven J. Menashi of New York), will be the one to flip that Circuit to majority Republican appointees.

“They need to speed it up. There is no guarantee Trump will win in 2020.”

Since invoking the “nuclear option” early this year, the Senate has been confirming about one judge per workday - roughly on track to fill available vacancies around the end of this year.
