Gay penguins Skipper and Ping have been given the chance to be parents after taking in an abandoned egg at the Berlin Zoo.

The pair, two male emperor penguins — both 10 years old — had longed to be dads for quite some time as they showed “immediate baby fever” as soon as they arrived to the zoo in April

Local Miami "news" gave this pathetic story almost as much attention as it gave President Trump's tariff comments.

"Gay" penguins, eh? Anything to advance the wokeness.

Yeah, as a trained biologist, and former zookeeper, I have a bit of a problem with ascribing human emotions and motivations onto non-human species... Homosexual behaviour does indeed exist in numerous animal species, but it really can’t be explained in the exact same context as “gay” relationships in humans. For example: male lion coalitions in control of a pride will often mount and groom each other for both reasons of bonding and/or showing dominance, but they will still nevertheless preferentially mate with lionesses, so to call them ‘gay’ is a disingenuous misnomer, as the dynamics at play are much different. Likewise, same-sex birds will sometimes ‘pair up’ in captive situations, simply because it’s an attempt to adapt to an unnatural situation (i.e. captivity), where the kind of natural wide and varied mate choice that’s available in the wild is simply not present. Hence, raising a chick ‘together’ is more a reflection of the natural parenting instinct in each bird (as both sexes of penguins help to rear the chicks in the wild), rather than some sort of indication of a ‘gay relationship’.

Thanks for posting reality. I was told one species would act homosexually dt extreme shortages of females. Iirc, that behavior stops once the fenales are available.
I am ex army, I have not directly seen that, but... how about them bears?

How do they know these two penguins are really homosexuals?

Have they ever marched in a homosexual parade?

Good post.

Maybe that explains more homosexuality occurs in the cities...

Birds are not mammels. They lay eggs and do not lactate. So once the egg is layed a male or a female can keep it warm and feed it once it’s hatched — and other bird species do this. A little basic understanding of biology is sometimes helpful.

Penguins are not gay. Warming an egg until it hatches is common behavior. That is not parenting. They are not gay. They haven’t longed to be dads.
The article is written deliberately in this way so as to tickle the fancy of the stupid, overwhemingly ignorant readers of people magazine and to get a few thousand gays to buy the rag.

What next? an article about transsexual clownfishes?

What the hell is “immediate baby fever”?

I’ve seen stories such as these over the years, which highlight homosexual behavior in the animal kingdom. I’m sure the reason the media highlight such stories, is to then get people thinking about applying the animal behavior to humans, and concluding that homosexuality in humans is normal and acceptable.

So yet another gay animal bit, eh? You’d think gays would not like being compared to animals.
