Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently sought advice from former White House adviser Steve Bannon on entering the Kansas Senate race next year.
The talk between the nations top diplomat and Trumps former campaign chairman was described to the Washington Examiner by a source who spoke with Bannon and by a second source briefed by two people close to Pompeo.
The former White House strategist claimed that Pompeo was leaning towards a run, said the source who spoke with Bannon.
The source briefed by people close to Pompeo said one of them was uneasy about Pompeo speaking with the outcast former Breitbart News chairman, who sought to forge links with various European nationalists after being scorned by Trump.
P
Senator heck...I’d like to see him as president in 2024.
What seat, is there a vacancy?
Nah. I’d rather have Jim Jordan.
Obviously any moron can be a Senator, just look at the DemoFlacks, but Pompeo has special skills that few have.
The Kansas GOP is frantic to get Pompeo to run. Anybody but Kobach.
Roberts is retiring.
I really like Jordan, but I think we need a big man to follow Trump.
At any rate, it is critically important to keep the WH from the Democrats beyond Trump. Even if Trump cruises to re-election, it will be for naught if the WH is turned back over to the Democrats in 2024.
Another Italian in office? Might as well elect me :)
Malone : Nah. What was it before you changed it?
George Stone : Giuseppe Petri.
Malone : Ah, I knew it. That’s all you need, one thieving wop on the team.
George Stone : Hey, what’s that you say?
Malone : I said that you’re a lying member of a no good race.
George Stone : [Stone presses a gun under his chin] Much better than you, you stinking Irish s.it pig.
Malone : Oh, I like him.
Ness : Yeah I like him too.
Who would replace him at State?
Pompeo is doing a good job right where he is. If Jordan is possibility....do it.
“I also see Pompeo as a possible successor to Trump. While Pence has been steadfastly loyal as Trump’s VP, I don’t see him as a strong contender for president in 2024.”
Agree, and my prediction you will see nikki haley in 2024 at least; possibly as Veep even this time around.
She has been warming up in the bullpen for a year already - it’s clear the RNC is grooming her and the public for her debut.
The upcoming election is a possibility if the Dems have at least one black or brown female on their ticket. So as not to appear ‘sexist’, they will oust Pence and bring in haley.
She is still radioactive in South Carolina, where she made the damn fool move to buy into the ‘Confederate Flag is racist!’, not realizing it was a battle flag only. Betraying the South will come back to haunt her.
As others have said, there is a big difference between being successful and effective in a high level federal office and in a state office, even that of senator. Kobach tried to bring national stuff to the KS governor’s race. I fear Pompeo would do the same.
The only person in our history whom I would say successfully did this was John Quincy Adams, who, after being a mediocre president, was a superb Congressman.
Pompeo doesn't have Kobach's baggage and record as a loser.
We need Pompeo to run for president in the 2014 race.
A little late for that ;-)
Thanks for the ping in process of moving and this helps me keep up
Salute
I don’t see why you’d want to swap Secretary of State for a Senate seat. In this case, it would be a huge demotion. The GOP isn’t in danger of losing this seat.
