HARLEM (WABC) -- Authorities have arrested a Broadway producer at his Harlem home in a child pornography investigation.
NYPD officers and Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested 65-year-old Ben Sprecher early Tuesday.
He was expected to appear in federal court later.
In 2012, Sprecher was a central figure in a scandal surrounding the musical "Rebecca." The show collapsed days before rehearsals began, leading to a FBI fraud investigation into the circumstances.

Nice to see the evil ones get arrested. According to my FBI buddy, kiddie porn isn’t just naked pictures. It’s kids with other kids, kids with animals and kids with adults, where the adults have had another head morphed on theirs to protect who is the awful human molesting the kid. Nobody in the media covers this stuff and it deserves to be pointed out.

I would say this is more in line with trump’s aggressive and effective war on child trafficking and other sex crimes. It’s just not widely told by the media.

Broadway producer Ben Sprecher was arrested on child porn charges on Tuesday, following an early morning raid at his Morningside Heights home, officials said.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations agents and NYPD officers executed a search warrant on Sprecher's West 122nd Street home, arresting him on federal child porn charges. He is currently awaiting an arraignment before a Southern District of New York judge, officials said. Additional details about the complaint were not immediately available.
Sprecher's lengthy Broadway resume includes production credits on the Tony-nominated "Fortune's Fool," as well as "Sly Fox," "The Odd Couple," and the Kevin Spacey vehicle, "A Moon for the Misbegotten."
But he is likely best known for his connection to the failed musical "Rebecca." After spending millions and lining up a cast, Sprecher learned that he'd been scammed by a Long Island stockbroker, Mark Hotton. The production was ultimately pulled, after the broker claimed the lead investor had died of malaria. Hotton later pled guilty, in what the Times described as "the most audacious fraud ever to sink a Broadway show." “Do I feel like I was duped? I was duped. I was raped," Sprecher told the paper in an interview following the scandal. More recently, Sprecher was reportedly seeking to open an "old world family restaurant for the Instagram age" in Rockefeller Center.
They should all receive stiff sentences.
My FBI friend said pretty much the same. Said they had to watch some of this stuff in order to know that the evil ones really did some of the horrible things. I believe the media is effectively complicit if they don’t expose these criminals.....and that includes the garbage who bring those poor kids across our border to be sold into sex slavery.

How awful. God bless you for having to endure that. But, you had to, to bring justice for the victims. The Almighty will one day not only wipe away every tear, but will render His judgment on the unforgiven.
I gotta say, all of this is just bringing me down, and nothing seems to be getting done about it.
