Corrections officers had not checked in on financier and registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for “several” hours before he was found hanging in his cell Saturday, a person familiar with the matter said, just one in a series of missteps in the hours leading up to his death.
Officers should have been checking on Epstein, who was being held in a special housing unit of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City, every 30 minutes

I have heard several jail commanders say, and this confirms my experience, that any other high profile inmate such as Epstein would have been in a suicide prevention unit 24/7 until his trial even before his first “suicide” attempt, as a matter of policy. This was a deep state hit, pure and simple.
I am quite sure the 2 guards were spending most of their shift screwing around on their smartphones.
these guys aren’t “forced” to work excessive OT. If they didn’t want to, they’d complain to the union. more likely, they’re piling on the OT their last few years. pensions are based on it. some of these guys, as well as cops and firemen retire (in their late 40s or early 50s) with pensions higher than their base pay.
