Determined people have "hanged" themselves from a doorknob or acot two feet high. It's slow strangulation. A jumpsuit can be a rope, unless it gets locked up the back and you can't tear it with your teeth.

Do the cells have doorknobs? Is the bed a frame or a block or a mattress on the floor?

Maybe you can hang yourself from a toilet. There are suicide-resistant toilets.

That’s what I’m thinking — it was striangulation rather than hanging but they’re using the word hanging to keep things simple.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the non-suicide-risk cells have some potential tie points. Probably none up high but maybe down low.

I guess the real question is why was the decision made to take him off suicide watch.
