A couple of bad trends in Mexico: Mexicans are getting sick of their President
American Thinker ^ | 08/11/2019 | Silvio Canto Jr.

We try to stay in touch with Mexico.  This week, we saw a couple of articles that should worry the Mexican middle class.

First, Presidente López-Obrador is making investors a bit weary, according to Richard Castillo via Pulse News Mexico:

Fear does not ride on a burro; it flies at the speed of sound!

And spreading fear of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's (AMLO) economic policies seems to be the leading reason that Mexico's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has slumped markedly to the point of reaching a minimal growth of 0.1 percent for the next quarter of 2019.

Based on the article, it appears that some major corporations are having second thoughts about investing or following up with their promises to invest.

Why?  Can you say AMLO, or the initials for Mexico's president?

It appears that AMLO's chief of staff is picking up on the message.  He just tweeted that AMLO's team understands the role of investment in the nation's economy.

The business community is not staying quiet. Gustavo de Hoyos, leader of COPARMEX, or a leading group of businessmen and industrialsts, is promising to launch an "alternate plan" to defend investors from the "populist" AMLO.

Well done Mr. de Hoyos!

Maybe my memory is bad, but I don't recall seeing that before, or a major industrial leader challenging the president's populism.

The other story is about Mexico's public schools and the growing influence of leftist teachers' union.  This is from Mamela Fiallo Flor, a fellow Cuban who has seen this movie before:

The National Coordination of Education Workers (CNTE) will provide textbooks to hundreds of thousands of Mexican children in 6,000 schools and indoctrinate them with communist propaganda.  The material ranges from Karl Marx to the link between Mexico and Cuban communism

Elect a crazy left socialist president? What could possibly go wrong?

You get Obamacare, socialist judges on the SCOTUS, and worsened race relations.

THIS JUST IN: Mexico's public schools fall prey to the growing influence of leftist teachers union.
Quoting Mamela Fiallo Flor, a fellow Cuban: " The National Coordination of Education Workers (CNTE)
will provide textbooks to 6,000 Mexican schools and indoctrinate children with communist propaganda ranging
from Karl Marx to the link between Mexican and Cuban communism."

I guess the La Raza textbooks that taught violence against us gringos and the taking back of the SW musta got dog-eared and unusable.

What Mexico needs is Franco or Pinochet.
But the Federales would probably invade Mexico if they put someone in place who could fix the current problems.

He promised to clean things up. Only a fool would have believed him, but the Mexicans were desperate. They have been betrayed by the PRI (Dems) for decades, and then when they started voting for PAN (GOP), they were betrayed again. Obviously with AMLO they’ve been betrayed a third time...

Ya know, I’m beginning to think we need to protest socialist countries for the misery they bring to their people, which sends them over OUR borders. Maybe we should bar our government and businesses from doing business with these shi*holes.

Are the teachers still allowed to sell their teaching position or gift it directly to their own children?

That was supposed to change a few years back, but this Mexico.

Mexico long ago proved it’s incapable of providing reasoned self-governance.

The nation is just doomed to failure.

The wall should be 100 feet tallk.

The avocado packers already acted on similar hopes. It's difficult to determine the results even with graphic pictures as they are called.

Look at the https://www.dea.gov/sites/default/files/2018-07/dir06515.pdf DEA maps. Maybe someday your observation will come true.

In a Mexican manner of speaking.

Update on chances of getting saved by the Mexican style of corruption.

Not so good.

Dunno, but read where the police in Mexico City rented out their uniforms when off duty. Would suspect that it happened elsewhere.

Before the border crap, we visited some kin in Texas.
They take us to Mexico and everywhere we go there is a guy in a uniform directing us into a parking space! They give them a small gratuity.

They said if you can get enough money to purchase a uniform, you get up early and claim a parking lot, that is your employment.
No heavy lifting and no income tax!
