The rats were winning.
There were so many earlier this summer outside the CalEPA building in downtown Sacramento officials had to close its outdoor playground out of fear state employees kids would catch rodent-borne diseases.
To fight back, building officials set out a controversial type of rat poison whose use may soon be banned statewide by the California Legislature. The poison didnt stay out very long once word got out the states top environmental regulators were using a poison widely condemned by Californias powerful environmental groups.
Effective immediately, Im putting a moratorium on the use of rodenticides around the 1001 I Street Building, CalEPA agency undersecretary Serena McIlwain said on June 19 in an email to staffers. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and will work aggressively to find effective, less toxic alternatives.

Do these people understand how pest control works?
Nah - of course not - everything has a right to life except pre born babies!
Invest in cat farms and mongoose breeding facilities. Mongooses (mongeese?) eat rats, too, right?
Some of the best mousers and ratters (a certain Maine Coon comes to mind) have met untimely deaths due to consuming poisoned rodents. Are the rats so big that a good feral kitty can’t take them out?
The stoopid just keeps getting stoopider and you can’t fix stoopid.

Whenever liberals hit the bottom of the stupid barrel, they knock the bottom out and dig some more!
Wait just a minute. The taxpayers are providing day care centers and playgrounds for state employees. It’s no wonder they’re going broke.
If there are rats, perhaps the state employees should clean up the building and playground.
Give a small business grant to a Chinese restaurant next to the state building and the rats will disappear. Or is that not very PC...
Someone in government watched Ben...
I'm in the pest control business and suppliers make anticoagulant rodenticide that will not transfer from rat to predator.
In Florida Birds of prey were being killed in vast numbers when anticoagulant rodenticide was first used....oops! because eagles, falcons, and such were catching rodents and eating them...
Science fixed the problem...
They must be tagging the rats with voter registration cards. Harvest that vote California!
Democrats are only good for raising blood pressure. We have pills for that. Don’t need the Democrats at all.
Out in the country, I can attest to cats keeping varmints cleared out.
Hawaii has mongoose and rats. The mongoose were brought in to hopefully kill the rats. Problem is, mongoose are diurnal, and the rats nocturnal...
RATS - can’t live with ‘em.
Sorry to say, we will have to live with them so long as we let drug addled homeless live among us, and encourage illegals to move in as well. Having a clean environment is the best solution.
How pitiful we have become isn’t it?
Theyll set up little tent cities for the rats. For course, then theyll have a flea problem. which could be addressed by putting the little blood suckers to work in a flea circus.
When will California experience a widespread plague, cholera or other death dealing outbreak? Will that make them change course or will the media even report it?
