Walmart pulls violent game displays; no change on gun sales

Walmart is removing from its stores nationwide signs, displays or videos that depict violence following a mass shooting at one of its stores in Texas, though it has not changed its policy on gun sales.

The retailer instructed employees in an internal memo to remove any marketing material, turn off or unplug video game consoles that show violent games — specifically Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and to monitor and turn off any violence depicted on screens in its electronics departments.

Employees were also ordered to turn off hunting season videos in the sporting goods department where guns are sold.

Under the heading: “Immediate Action,” employees were instructed to “Review your store for any signing or displays that contain violent images or aggressive behavior. Remove from the salesfloor or turn off these items immediately.”

“We’ve taken this action out of respect for the incidents of the past week,” said spokeswoman Tara House in an email to The Associated Press on Friday.

The company’s policy on sales of video games that depict violence has not changed, nor has its policy on gun sales.

Following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Walmart Inc. banned sales of firearms and ammunition to people younger than 21. It had stopped selling AR-15s and other semi-automatic weapons in 2015, citing weak sales.

There is no known link between violent video games and violent acts.

Very dubious statement:

There is no known link between violent video games and violent acts.

I’m at a loss here. Walmart is not going to display signs or videos for violent games. Yet they will still sell them?

I guess this is what passes for “Doing Something.”

Japan also bans the mass importation of muzzies. I bet (I say sarcastically) that has something to do with things.

Even if 2 percent of their population was muslim the violent crime rate would be one they’ve not seen in a very long time.

Maybe make all Wal-Mart stores GUN FREE ZONES. With big signs in the parking lots too. That should make a difference.

I guess there is no known link between advertising and purchases.

To remove violent video games and other displays is a good move.

LOL!

Oh man, I love watching the cheap thrill of the unnecessary virtue signal.

It’s like an LSD hit for the media sheep.

Like what gamer is going to be left clueless of video games because they happen to not see it on display at the Shenzhen-Mart?

The numbers in this site are very old. About 10 years. But they accurately describe the level of muzzie violence from 2 percent of a population to 100 percent.

Japanese cartoons arent for people with weak stomachs, that’s for sure.

They’ve been censoring out the violence in those things before they hit America since I was a kid in the 80s. Yet Japanese kids seem to have been able to handle them just fine. Maybe there is just that much of an extreme difference between the west and even an westernized Japan.

Come to think of it, the Washington Bullets should change their name. Oh wait…

What percentage of the population in Chicago is Moslem? Detroit turned into a hellhole well before there was any Moslem population there. Those people don’t belong here, but lets not pretend that they are cause of high rates of violent crime in America. The worst parts of my hometown have no Moslems at all, but they do have lots of violent crime.

It’s really amazing to watch people stab around in the dark for solutions to a human spirituality problem.

The ROOT of this problem is people deciding that it’s OKAY to mass murder a bunch of other people because they are mad about whatever.

Everything else being discussed as if it relates to this is total horseshit.

And just further fanning the socialist flames who are now saying “they’ll stop promoting violent games but still sell violent guns”

Just smack these socialists in the mouth and say NO
