Missouri police say a man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly showed up to a local Walmart with a loaded rifle and a bulletproof vest.
Police in Springfield, Mo., said nobody was harmed and no shots were fired. The suspect, a white man in his 20s, was detained by an off-duty firefighter until officers arrived on the scene, authorities said.
The man allegedly showed up with a tactical rifle and bulletproof vest, the Springfield News-Leader reported.
Springfield Police Lt. Mike Lucas told the outlet that the man, wearing body armor and military-style clothing, was taking videos on his phone and making comments to people while pushing a shopping cart.
Lucas said the suspect then left the store, where the off-duty firefighter held him at gunpoint until police arrived shortly after.
His intent obviously was to cause chaos here, and he did that, he said.
Lucas said the suspect had more than 100 rounds of ammo, adding that police are still working to determine his motives, including whether he intended to shoot anyone.
His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business here, Lucas said. In fact, hes lucky hes alive still, to be honest.
The incident follows Saturdays mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, that killed 22 people and injured dozens others.
A separate shooting in Dayton, Ohio, one day later killed nine people and left others wounded.
Gun owners in this nation who are responsible and are trying to maintain that they are in the whole responsible and situationally aware won’t be showing up in a black T shirt and cargo shorts wearing body armor with their rifle openly displayed in a public situation just after 2 mass shootings have occurred. This young man was deliberately gaslighting and was lucky he wasn’t shot! There are laws against deliberately provoking fear by means of guns, despite one’s nominal position of being “legal” and “within his rights”. I hope the judge reams him a good one and on the possibility that the young man was completely unaware of current events, I hope the judge tells the young man to get his head out of his ass and pay attention to the news and current events!
There also is no law against being “obtuse” which is what your posting is a prime example of.
Good guy with a gun stops massacre. This is the only gun control we should be talking about. The government should ramp up the Civilian Marksmanship Program to make sure good guys are armed, and make CC reciprocal amongst all the states.
INCELs don't have wives, not even sister/cousins.
The writer is either outright lying or is just plain stupid....never mind, the Press is always both.
My view is that he knew he would be arrested even though he was apparently legal in every way.
He was illustrating the fact that gun control would be enforced illegally
He was arrested because breaking the law by cops is easier than catching hell for letting him go free
He was wearing body armor? Seriously? He is wearing a cotton vest and T-shirt.
I don’t think the guy had any intention of shooting anyone. He was exercising his right to open carry. Common sense of a jelly bean for sure, but I’d be willing to bet he had no intent to kill.
WUT?! The media ‘accidentally ‘ reported, uh, truth or facts? Thanks nuzzlin’ joe for that phrasing. It WILL be used. A LOT.
After El Paso I’m not going to walmart without my tactical gear and 100 rounds. Equal force laws work.
Know what Bert? he just may be proving a point as you say. A shovel, or even a 100 shovels cannot dig any holes by themselves. The ground is totally safe until a human actually uses a shovel.
Was intending to do harm. Too early, more coffee.
I was at that gas pump wondering why a firetruck was present while police officers had a man kneeling on the ground.
The firetruck being there was confusing until today.
I thout it was a drug bust from a nearby traffic stop.
Guess I missed the interesting part.
It’s a tactical suspender rig, but he is only using one shoulder strap instead of both. Either can be removed as an option to clear one side for a rifle butt against the shoulder. The blank area over his heart is designed to attach another pouch if needed but he left it empty.

yep
yes
Definitely NOT body armor. Looks mean, But just about the same concept as a fly fishing vest and rig. Wonder what they would say if he was wearing a fly fishing rig and waders? lol
Dumb**ses...
LOL - that would set off Democrat snowflakes for sure
