FWIW, I quit listening to Metallica after Puppets, In Justice was such a let-down I made my way over to a Metallica reject, Megadeth. Added bonus, Dave Mustaine is now a born-again Christian!

I never gave up on Dave. He screwed himself out of Metallica for sure, but God knew what was best for him. I pray God heals his cancer.

Master of Puppets is a masterpiece (no pun intended) and yes, I see your point. But it wasn't all a waste after Cliff died - Fuel is the second greatest driving song ever (of course, YOU know that Highway Star is #1) and Garage Days was entertaining. James is a pretty cool guy from what I've read.

Meh... I really don’t consider Slayer or Testament to be Death Metal. I can’t stand that crap myself. To me, those two bands are simply thrash.
