The link between pot and mass shootings may be closer than we think
The New York Post ^ | August 8th, 2019 | By Miranda Devine

You can’t walk through the streets of Manhattan these days without smelling weed.

Even as evidence mounts of the health problems associated with marijuana, New York has insisted on joining other greedy states scrambling to legalize this deceptively dangerous drug.

It makes no sense at a time when American youth is suffering from an unprecedented mental health crisis.

And, in all honesty, we cannot rule out a connection between increasing marijuana use, mental illness and the recent spate of mass shootings by disturbed young males.

We don’t yet know much about the mental state or drug use of the El Paso or Dayton killers. But a former girlfriend of Dayton killer Connor Betts, 24, has indicated he was mentally ill, and two of his friends interviewed by reporters this week mentioned his previous drug use.

Just last year, the Parents Opposed to Pot lobby group tried to sound the alarm on the link between marijuana and mass shootings, compiling a list of mass killers it claims were heavy users of marijuana from a young age, from Aurora, Colo., shooter James Holmes and Tucson, Ariz., shooter Jared Loughner to Chattanooga, Tenn., shooter Mohammad Abdulazeez.

“We don’t yet know much about the mental state or drug use of the El Paso or Dayton killers.”

Okay then.

Pointless article is pointless.

Only a fool, or an addict, or an addicted fool, could possibly think that one can regularly ingest a psychotropic drug and not have it adversely affect one's brain.

Proponents of mj are either deliberately obtuse or genuinely stupid. There is no other explanation.

Moral relativism is the killer. Mental health is a red herring for gun grabbers to use so they can impose gun control.
So is the false flag of weed.
The true blame is.. this Republic was founded under a blanket of absolute morals.
Now we have “progressed” to say it may not be wrong to.... if economic, or racial or any intersectional.. . Isn’t that such a glamorous word.. condtions made me sin.
Sorry.
A safer nation will only happen if we return to Biblical authority.

You are correct. Drug use by young persons prevents emotional maturation.

Sincerely wish these politicians who want to legalize “recreational” marijuana use spent some time with the families of regular users, talk to people who have gone through rehab and perhaps listen to the non biased medical professionals who deal with chronic marijuana users. Perhaps they can get some of their loyal teacher supporters to go off record and explain the changes they witness in students who begin smoking marijuana regularly. This political narrative to “normalize” the use of drugs such as marijuana is as destructive to American culture as is the current fascination with socialism.

She is a classic example why you shouldn’t Hit the Pipe before Work or writing an article. The REAL Connection is Psychotropic Drugs every last one of these killers was forced to take during Junior High and High School.

Pot use seems to dull what we call “conscience. So it is probable that shooters are probably pot users.

Bottom line. National Revival desperately needed.

As to drugs, I think the behavioral meds given to many boys, for decades now, will have a seriously negative outcome (if not already).

If you are crazy and you smoke weed, I dint it makes you crazier. It can cause paranoia if you get in the wrong strain. Oddly, using CBD seems to counteract the bad results from weed.

But is it beyond the pale for rabid anti-gun governors (Cuomo in New York, Newsome in California, Polis in Colorado, and others) to someday take the medical and recreational pot purchaser database and direct that those names be added to those prohibited from firearms purchases or transfers? Under existing federal law they are prohibited persons. California actively “rounds up” firearms and confiscates them from prohibited persons.

Just asking...

Nothing is pointless to the drug warriors. It’s all about control and reaffirming their prejudices.

We have lost a couple of generations- to social experimentation, a failed public school system, the destruction of our boys, parents too lazy or too scared to parent properly, and an inability to teach our kids to believe in something or Someone bigger than ourselves.
The use of weed is a symptom, not the cause. Our young people self-medicate because we have not taught them to 1) Love God above all things, and 2) love their neighbor as themselves.

Hmm... i think you are right.
Add in the fact they are fed an endocrine disrupter from birth, via soy formula.
It really isn’t surprising they are this dysfunctional.
And it may not be their fault... Their parents chose the easy thing, easier to dope them up than work with an inconsolable child.
