Facebook, Twitter and Google aren't prepared for deepfakes ahead of the US presidential election, a top Congressman said after the tech giants sent letters last week about how they deal with high-tech doctored videos and other kinds of media manipulation. The companies "have begun thinking seriously" about the challenges, said Rep. Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, but it's their responsibility to prevent their platforms from being weaponized.
"It's clear they are far from ready to accomplish that," Schiff said in a statement.
Deepfakes are sophisticated video forgeries, created automatically by artificial intelligence, that can make people appear to be doing or saying things they never did. Though computer manipulation of video has existed for decades, artificial intelligence is making deepfakes and other so-called synthetic media more accessible and harder to detect.
Schiffhead is saying this in anticipation of disturbing pics or video of him going public.
Frankly any pic of Schiffty is disturbing to me though.

It’s pretty obvious to me every time I see Bugsy picture on a social “media” site. He’s the biggest fake to ever come down the pike and people are still allowed to post his picture.
The beautiful irony if there is a fake video of him. Schiff expects these companies to authenticate each video and the bastard spent a couple of years leaking and lying about the counter-intelligence investigation.

Who gives a sh!t if a social media platform is ready to deal with fake posts? As long as we are able to deal with crooked members of Congress, we should be fine.
I’m sure a forensics lab specializing in this type of thing would be able to tell the difference.

I haven’t been able to access twitter for a couple of hours here in Illinois...It seems others are having the same issue....but other people report no problems
Deepfakes will certainly be used in the 2020 election. Be prepared to see convincing videos of Trump saying things he never said.
