Fresh calls for gun control following massacres in two U.S. cities over the weekend are testing the resilience of the National Rifle Association at a time when the nations largest gun lobby is riven by leadership clashes and allegations of reckless spending.
The NRA, which has blocked proposed restrictions after past mass shootings, including at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., has lost key veterans in recent months, including lobbyist Christopher Cox, who back-channeled with the White House and lawmakers during previous political crises.
The NRAs longtime advertising firm, which helped craft its hard-edge responses to past gun violence, is battling the organization in court. Last week, three NRA board members resigned, saying they were sidelined after demanding audits of the organizations spending. Rank-and-file members are urging changes, while other gun rights groups are seeking to capitalize on the NRAs struggles.

Wayne La Pierre has been at the top too long and is “comfy” with the perks and bennies IMO.
After the Democrat government assault at Waco that killed children.....
No gun control.
Never.
The Democrats want to commit politicide on us.
The only thing preventing them is their fear of return fire.
No doubt it’s the brown rifle guys trying to throw the black rifle guys under the bus.
Washingtoon Compost is telling lies. “It’s chaos in the conservative camp! Peak Trump!”
Nothing unifies gun owners like an attempted confiscation.
What is the source of this discord?
I had a bad feeling when Lt. Col Oliver North got ousted a while back.
Have they been infiltrated?
Has it ever told the truth?
This whole thing is just a re-wording of the same old argument.
If the killing is done by people, then its a behavior problem.
If the killing is carried out by guns, then guns have a mind we didnt know about.
You misspelled “Washington Compost”.
LaPierre is a crook, charlatan, scumbag and lowlife.
+1.
[[What is the source of this discord?]]
This typically happens when an organization gets too big and has too much money flying around. Also when people are in positions of power too long. Look at any organization that has had the same faces in power too long and I’ll show you varying degrees of corruption. Its the nature of the beast. LaPierre needs to go and the board needs to be trimmed way down.
The NRA is long overdue for a Neal Knox type shake up. People have become too fat and happy.
NRA seems dead at moment, wrap up in everyone protecting their jobs, double-dipping $$$, and not focusing on mission of NRA. As a life member, I’m not happy. They blew it bringing double-dipping North in and its been downhill since. Need to completely clean out current leadership. Not looking at them to represent or show leadership at the moment.
Im a life member. True in my opinion. Comfort, complacency, corruption, is what I see. Im no Ollie North zombie but the NRA needs new management.
Two things we do not need.
1. More gun laws that criminals will ignore.
2. More “Gun Free Zones” for criminals to target.
“Renew” all the calls they want.
Will.
Not.
Comply.
Molon Labe.
“Why is the NRA “divided”?”
The leadership approved of bump stocks and is favoring dangerous and unconstitutional red flag laws. The leadership is also under investigation for financial fraud, which it looks like they are actually guilty as hell of.
Hes a good guy in a suit. A well-tailored suit.
