Lots of conservatives are understandably upset that the IG Horowitz’s criminal referral of James Comey for leaking classified memos memorializing his conversations with President Trump is not being prosecuted by the Department of Justice. It eerily reminds us of James Comey exonerating Hillary Clinton for her prima facie violations of the Espionage Act because he could perceive no criminal intent (which is unnecessary for gross negligence to apply).
We’ve been suckered before, so cynicism is warranted. Tucker Carlson opened his show last night making this point:

But there is more – much more – to the story this time. The case against Comey for leaking is weaker and less serious than his signing of the FISA warrant applications that corruptly cited the Steele Dossier, even though it was known to be unverified. IG Horowitz has a separate report coming on that, and US Attorney John Durham is reportedly working on prosecuting that.
Watch two very distinguished, high profile attorneys – Joe di Genova and Alan Dershowitz -- discuss this with Laura Ingraham. And as you do, imagine to potential consequences of taking as the first case against Comey a prosecution that could well be lost. Once a prosecution fails, the calls to drop the “political motivated persecution” would be legion. I is important that the first case taken to a jury be rock-solid and serious.

It’s really hard to win the game when you don’t even know what game you’re playing.
The “people” are taught (or at least, used to be) the organization of government...this is how a bill becomes law, etc., and that is how government works.
It is not. There is and always has been, a hidden game with rules that are not public, and for years we’ve been playing (and being played) the wrong game.
I think that is why Trump is so feared. He knows the game and he knows the hidden rules. He is playing and winning that game and he is on our side (or we’re on his side, which is much the same thing).
I am an optimistic cynic.
because we believe in the rule of law and equal justice. So ridicule those values all you want.
The report? Oh yeah... that report that was due out last January, no February, no May....
I consider progressives like GBS to be experts on cynicism.
Progressivism was a disease of the upper class intellectual in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The disease later spread to pseudo-intellectuals, and it has now spread to the utterly stupid.
Trump has a serious problem, there’s an election up ahead and he has a skewered report card so far. Here’s the downside.

I believe in justice and the rule of law too. I am not ridiculing those values. I’m ridiculing people who think they will be played out in the way of the deep state prosecuting itself. It is not going to happen.
OH I have up on that in 2017 when he didn’t hire an AG who would use the Comey report to imprison a person he called a criminal for 18 months. And were 15 months after knowing the dossier was fake and the WH asked for warrants with uncorroborated information.
I’m just look now for a conservative i can write in.

I agree at least in part with all of those, and they matter to us.
I don’t know if the matter enough to most people to make a difference though.
Do I have a job? Did I get a raise this year? Do my groceries cost too much?
Those are the questions that matter to the bulk of the voters.
That is the deal. They go free, and Trump is in the clear and gets his agenda through the courts. The dems do whatever the dems do. They got nothing.

It’s funny you should mention that and you of course are correct that it has been delayed more than once. The catch in my mind is why?
It was first scheduled to be released in Feb IIRC, about the time Barr took over the DOJ. I believe it would have been released by Horowitz at that time and it would have been a whitewash much like the first one he produced.
Pure speculation mind you but I believe that Barr made it clear to Horowitz in no uncertain terms that no such smooth over crapola report like the first one would be tolerated.
Hence, the delays as Horowitz had been forced to start from the beginning and actually produce an accurate bonafide report with teeth. There are a few indications that may indeed be happening.
Granted, only my opinion but it fits as well as any theory out there.

You could be correct. I respectfully don’t think so though. I think Barr is as deep state as it gets. He is the fixer. His job is to make this whole mess go away.
I gave up on justice when Sheets Byrd said about the clinton impeachment, “These may rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors, but I’ll not vote to remove (the president).
Trump gave me optimism when he stirred up the mob at rallies by pumping his fist when they chanted lock her up, but it was all circus and bullshot.

I agree. But I have to say I was as negative on Trump during the primary as any person could be. I did not believe he would enact the agenda he was promising. And short of locking up Hillary, he is getting it done. I have a MAGA hat I wear. And a new Trump 2020 hat I wear when I go out. I have no complaints with him as he enacts the agenda I support. But yeah, there is no justice for the deep state in this country.
Bottom line, we’re going to know which one of us is right in very short order.
