Over 100 people packed the lobby of a San Francisco public high school to view a controversial mural criticized as racist and degrading for its depiction of black and Native American people.
Officials allowed visitors to see the "Life of Washington" mural for two hours on Thursday after the San Francisco School Board voted in June to paint over the 83-year-old fresco. Since then, there has been much push back about the decision, including an effort to include a measure on the 2020 ballot to preserve the mural and a protest petition signed by more than 400 academics.

As the Left becomes increasingly unhinged I believe their eradication efforts against American history and culture will accelerate. Recall how quickly a shooting in Charleston, SC turned into a Leftist holy crusade against the Confederate battle flag.
Still waiting for California cities to start requesting name changes for those named after the missions.
It wouldn’t cost much to remove the drywall and install the mural in a new location, put up new drywall and paint. But I’d bet that there are 101 different union interests and regulations that make actually doing this prohibitively expensive.

The interesting thing is that it is a quite leftist mural. Rather than presenting an all heroic Washington it presents slavery and dead Native Americans.
I doubt that drywall was used 83 years ago.
I’m sure it hurts the self esteem of the minority students to attend a school named for George Washington.
First, the mural will be deleted. Then, down the road, they will change the name of the school.
New Orleans deleted the name of George Washington school, because Washington owned slaves. They renamed it after a black surgeon.
No word though, if the increased self esteem among the black students attending that school led to increased student achievement. After having thrown off the chains of being forced to attend a school named for someone who owned slaves, student achievement should have skyrocketed.

Even if the citizens do all the necessary work to democratically get the destruction overturned, those “who know better” will paint over it just to spite them and claim it was graffiti from repressed youths.
Mark me - they will not allow their opinions and decisions to be overturned.
