This is a monthly posting of Twitter follower growth for the past month for 2020 presidential candidates in which I reveal who - of the presidential candidates - attracted the most new followers in the month of JULY 2019!
We just had our second round of Democrat presidential debates but so far nobody has really distanced themselves from the pack to pose any kind of a serious thread to President Trump.
If you remember four years ago in 2015, Donald Trump dominated the news cycle that summer and basically sucked all the air out of the room. He was already filling stadiums and generating a media frenzy wherever he went. Nobody on the Democrat side are doing that today.
Consider this, despite already having well over 60,000,000 followers, Trump was able to add nearly a million more during July. That is more net new followers in July 2019 than all the other presidential candidates COMBINED. And I'm tracking 67 presidential candidates in total (including all the fringe ones).
But I only post the Top 20 each month and so that it what you will see in the graphic below.
I should also mention that over the past 24 hours, Tulsi Gabbard picked up 20,000 new followers to zoom ahead of Kamala Harris, the candidate she pretty much destroyed last night. So Tulsi definitely has some momentum.
A month ago, it was Andrew Yang who had the most follower growth (aside from Trump) with over 200,000 - but it appears that Yang rigged the results somewhat as during June, he was offering a random cash bonus to one of his new followers. So thousands of people followed Yang just to have a chance at the bonus. However, he gained another 85,000 followers in July so maybe he has a little bit of grass roots enthusiasm going on here.
Rounding out my Top 20 is Bill Weld who somehow picked up 6,000 new followers. At the rock bottom of my survey is Bob Corker - who actually LOST 911followers. Beto O'Rourke was right behind him with a loss of 626 followers.

I am so pleased that you are tracking this data. It is a valuable service and it will be interesting to see where it goes when the field of Dem Wackos starts to thin out.
We need to see how this data correlates with the polling data. Too early to do so now but the time will come when a few of the Dems (or maybe just one) bubble to the top.

Bill de Blasio is #29 on my list and he picked up 3,306 new followers in July for a total of 165,132. This is the @BilldeBlasio handle. He also has an @NYCMayor account but I’m not considering that one.
