Update: A statement officially canceling Woodstock 50 was issued at 11:37am PT and includes a suggestion that the artists donate 10% of their already-paid fees to the charity HeadCount, a non-profit targeting voter registration which has registered nearly 600,000 voters at concerts and via its website...

Sounds like a scam from the start
You mean, we aren’t going to be treated to a week long, pot infested, anti-American geriatric hippie fest? How will I cope???
So a lame concert with over the hill “rockers” in rockers that was also a voter registration drive was cancelled
cry me a river
WoodStock was right for its time. It was a kinda teaparty thingy.
You cannot reproduce that.
I say if you want to start a movement, protest against the dems and the border invasion.
Oh yeah, Cards are gonna smoke the Cubs tonight.
Can’t they find a muddy back 40 of someone’s farm, and let the hipsters roll around in the mud? I mean, if they really want it to be like the original???
They can always go on the disco cruise with KC and the Sunshine Band.

Hipsters getting dirty? Outside on that dirt stuff? No A/C? Perish the thought.
my older brother was at Woodstock 94. The stories he could tell. That should have ended it but of course in America, when there’s an opportunity to make money, someone just does it. This ain’t it because MOST of the artists today...effing SUCK.
They tried. Watkins Glen Raceway was going to be the venue but they couldnt cough up the cash. Then Vernon Downs and Jeff Gural saw the $$$$$$ and said YES but the town said take a hike.. last is was the Marjorie Meriwether Post Pavilion and everyone threw up. Story over.
“Said Michael Lang, co-founder of Woodstock: We are saddened that a series of unforeseen setbacks has made it impossible to put on the Festival we imagined with the great line-up we had booked and the social engagement we were anticipating.
When we lost the Glen and then Vernon Downs we looked for a way to do some good rather than just cancel. We formed a collaboration with HeadCount to do a smaller event at the Merriweather Pavilion to raise funds for them to get out the vote and for certain NGOs involved in fighting climate change. “
LOL
i agree. And i have have 2 questions - why should they only give away 10% of collected fees? and why should it be suggested they give any to a voter registration group?
At least it avoided being a second “Fyre Festival.”
i still go back and read articles on that debacle. The beautiful sound of crying trust-fund hipsters never gets old.
Thank Christ.
The 60’s still suck.
Mud, slop, and a lot of young people screwing their minds and bodies on much worse than ‘pot’.
But some of the music was very good. We don’t have popular musicians like many who were there, anymore.
There are plenty of these 1, 2 and 3 day free for alls, all over the country, happening every year. Why do we need another?
When Miley Cyrus is the headliner of a Woodstock 50 celebration you should know you’re on the wrong track. Really, the whole thing was a joke from the beginning.
