MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday questioned Alabama’s requirement for a transgender person to undergo full gender reassignment surgery before they can change the sex on their driver’s license, suggesting that a license that contradicts a person’s public appearance essentially marks them with a “scarlet letter T.”
U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson held a hearing in the 2018 lawsuit filed by three transgender women seeking to change the gender on their state license.
The American Civil Liberties Union, which is representing the plaintiffs, said the requirement to show proof of sex-altering surgery is an unconstitutional violation of privacy and a person’s ability to make their own medical decisions. The ACLU said Alabama differs from most states and the federal government that allow people to change the gender identity on a government-issued ID without proof of surgery.

IF a male can declare they are female they will be able to obtain a lower auto insurance rate. IF enough do this it will screw up the actuary tables.
People are not thinking this mess through.
Should be a state matter, but that means nothing to the federal courts these days.
And “scarlet T”? Spare me. I wonder how long it took him to come up with that one.

So if I have a really good tan and decide I am a Hispanic or even a black person is this moron judge suggesting that I have a right to have myself identified as such on a state drivers license? This nonsense has to be stopped! Drivers license are issued to identify the actual person, not someone the person thinks they are!
And, of course, many people don’t look or feel their age. Time to let people change their DOB!
Federal gun forms still ask male or female.
It must match the ID.
That must match the background check database.
No guns for mentally ill men who think they are women.

why have “gender” as a field on the ID? change it to “biological sex” and tell the delusional freaks to pound sand.
Patriots are reminded that the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect privacy, the word privacy not found in the Constitution.
In other words, privacy, as institutionally indoctrinated ACLU lawyers are claiming it, is a politically correct right imo.

Why have male/female?
Why not XX, XY, XXY, XYY, XXX, XXXX, XXXXX, XXXY, XXYY, and XXXXY?
In some cases this would make it easier to identify the body...
If you’re schizoid, do you get to have two licenses? Why are we catering to people with mental disorders?
Get rid of “gender” on all forms. Replace it with “presumed 23rd chromosome pair” if that will make the freak show stop yapping at us. Instead of m/f we can be XY/XX.
so if i identify as a jellyfish, I can sue if a policeman or court questions my identity?
