Homer's Odyssey hero Achilles gained fame with his reckless attacks. He was able to be so reckless because his vulnerability was small when compared to his giant frame. While the GOP continues to enjoy its strong base and enthusiasm, it also has an Achilles heel: its lack of effective opposition research.
Governor Northam exposed this weakness back in February when pictures of him from his medical school's 1984 yearbook emerged naming him as a figure either dressed in KKK garb or in clichéd and racist blackface. The pictures were first uploaded to 4Chan and then picked up by a local paper before hitting national headlines. Governor Northam had just won the gubernatorial position in 2017. Why did his opponent, Ed Gillespie, and his campaign fail to expose this before the election?
If I ever campaigned for public office, regardless if it was against a man that I knew went to school in the Deep South in the '70s and '80s, one of the first places I would look for anything incriminating on an opponent would be a school yearbook. These pictures, which were available in a public library, timed before the election, would have devastated Northam, who ran a campaign pandering for the black vote.
Ilhan Omar's recent national headlines also expose this failure of the GOP to conduct sufficient research into those candidates they're competing against for important positions.
I reached out to Patrick Coolican, a writer for the Star Tribune (Minnesota's largest liberal newspaper), which first published the documents that support the claims that Omar was married to her brother and also participated in immigration and tax fraud. Additionally, documents show that she used congressional lawyers to fix her fraud with the IRS.

It also exposes the corruption of The Media.
They should have found and exposed Omar during her campaign.
If the media were honest they probably would have.
Perhaps, the media chose NOT to find. /s
People in the media, even many conservatives, want to be LIKED by their bosses, and their bosses’ bosses.
And those people DETEST the value set that built the country.
They are a tribe that travel through the occidental world, smashing countries up, suuuure that the very next time, they’ll get collectivism right, they’ll surely bring Heaven to Earth and dance around the golden calf Next Time.
The ones now going about their work in the USA —they came from Eastern Europe and Russia.
The ones cartelizing high-tech; their grandparents and great-grandparents hijacked and ruined the Eastern block.
They should have found and published the pictures of Obama and Odinga in Kenya.
I believe that if the voting public knew about this we would never have elected obama
Why? She’s right where she should be. She’s a poster child for every single thing that is wrong with our refugee system. If the information that Judicial Watch is uncovering on her sees the light of day, she’s done, but her district will elect someone more radical than she is. She is a monster the the Democrats on the national, state and city level created. Best thing about it is, very soon she’ll have enough support in that district, city and state that she won’t need the Dem machine for any reason.
Look at Hamtramck,Mich. All the muslim’s played nice with everyone. Once they got control of everything their true colors came out.
If anyone goes after her, which shouldn’t be hard and would be easy to expose her for the fraud that she is, her people will burn Minneapolis to the ground. And I can’t wait for that to happen. It’ll be glorious watching them set up roadblocks with burning tires.
Lets not forget that Minneapolis is the terror recruitment center in the US. Nothing to see here, move along.
But this article is BS. The GOP doesn’t .... lack of effective opposition research.
The GOP, on the whole, is a part of and knee deep in all the corruption. They don’t care about anything or anyone other than the Chamber of Commerce and their corporate donors. They all think they’ll be insulated from all of this forever. There’s plenty of oppo research out there, they just choose to ignore it because they’re part of it. At least with the Dem’s and the Left, you know where they stand. Now, more than ever. GOP will lie right to your face. Pee on your leg and tell you it’s raining.
The liberals in Minnesota are so desperate to be on the stage with the big players like New York, Paris, London, etc. theyll do anything to raise their status.
They are all so proud of showing how progressive they are by sending their very own little brown Muslim female to Congress. The world will have to acknowledge us now!
They made a golem and now Charlie is in the CP.
I think Obama’s election was the product of mass hysteria. He would have been elected no matter what.
Well, I do like the idea of keeping the Four Morons of the Derpocalypse out in front of the Democrat Party as its voice and face.
Ilhan Omar’s recent national headlines also expose this failure of the GOP to conduct sufficient research into those candidates they’re competing against for important positions.
~~~
I disagree.
There is typically lots of information out there if you can find it, by lots of people who research it. The problem is mass media censorship of anything that incriminates a leading or hopefull democrat.
Look at how much of Obama’s history that people didn’t know about, even after he got elected.
No they won't. The Somalian's are a small part of the population, their average IQ is 67, and MN has many armed, responsible people. Lots of hunters, even if they vote Dem.
For example, in 2015, one in 20 Minnesotans had a cc permit, and 19% were women. The number of cc permits has grown every year since.
BTW, Omar's district includes part of Hennepin County.
In the specific cases of Ilhan Omar and Ralph Northam, use of the negative material would have required considerable care because, if given the chance, the news media would no doubt rally to the defense of the targets. Last-minute mailings and TV and radio attack ads would thus be the preferred tactic.
As for trolling through old school yearbooks, rarely is that useful because responsible editors and faculty advisers almost always block objectionable material. Over the years, I have found litigation files, newspaper searches, official minutes and other records, and ethics filings and issues to be the most productive of useful negative material.
Yes, they want to be liked. They are also terrified of being called a racist.
It's why it's now the norm for people who disagree with the policy/political positions of the left are immediately labeled a racist. It's an (effective) attempt to shut down the debate.
Hopefully, enough people have realized the racist card is so worn out it's disintegrating.
Assuming a detail not in evidence. Was team Gillespie aware of this information and failed to employ it or did they fail to do the research? In my (admittedly limited) experience pubbies are reluctant to resort to the tactics because they find them "unseemly" or beneath them. Losers.
One part of me agrees with you, but you know what? None of those “hunters” or “ 1 in 20 Minnesotans w/ CCWs” or “the 19% were women” are going to form up when shit goes sideways and walk through her district to squash anything. They’re going to stay home, maybe pray for the cops and fireman that have to be there, and watch it all on tv. And stay as far away from that place as possible. They might defend themselves or a loved one, that’s about it.
She won that election by a landslide if I’m not mistaken...She got 267,703 votes. Her Republican opponent got 74,440. She isn’t going anywhere. And her support will continue to grow as the Somalian and immigrant population grows in that district. Hell, the guy that replaced her, is potentially worse than she is and he gave his acceptance speech in his native tongue, not English.
Why did his opponent, Ed Gillespie, and his campaign fail to expose this before the election?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because Ed Gillespie is a Bush League Republican (Democrat in an R jersey)
Bush League Republicans don’t care if they win as long as they block the citizens from electing anyone who would side with the citizens and the rule of law.
The Designated Losers chosen to make sure the Kenyanesian Usurpation happened would still have lost, just as they planned.
The Dems have the CIA, the FBI, and 95% of the media doing their oppo research for them, so it’s no wonder the GOP lags in this area.
The really, really bad thing is the GOP is happy to be in the minority because they are still able to deliver the goods to their globalist masters, even as the minority party.
