A 79-year-old self-described "cat lover" has been given a dose of paw and order by local authorities, who sentenced her to spend more than a week behind bars for continually doling out munchies to the neighborhood mousers.
In Garfield Heights, Ohio, it's considered a minor misdemeanor to offer food to stray cats and dogs, according to Cleveland.com. Nancy Segula, a resident of the city who has received multiple citations for feeding stray felines, was ordered by a judge last week to spend 10 days in jail, Fox 8 reports.

My husband works as a Hospice volunteer. Trust me when I say that there’s no assurance that your kids will take you to the doctor, help with the house, or even visit you. It’s heartbreaking to see these elderly people, whose children and grandchildren live within ten miles of them, spend months without a visit. It’s SO common.

My son and his wife have no children. They have pets, to whom they are very attached. They would make wonderful parents, but for health reasons, should not have chi!dren, and cannot afford to adopt. They are concerned about not having children to care for them when they become old or infirm, but have several nieces and nephews. Hopefully, they will step up. I certainly cannot fault them for being devoted to their pets; they may be a poor substitute for children, but if that’s all they have, it is what it is. (BTW, they are both in education, and positively impact troubled and impaired children daily).
