While stationed in Germany in the army I purchased a brand-new 1969 Volkswagen Beetle. The car was a beauty! The dark green exterior complemented the brown leatherette interior. But as the years took their toll, stuff began to happen, including an accident that ruined the running board and destroyed one of the doors. With more imagination, I could have thought, “My classic car was a perfect candidate for restoration!” And with more money, I could have pulled it off. But that didn’t happen.
Thankfully the God of perfect vision and unlimited resources doesn’t give up so easily on battered and broken people. Psalm 85 describes people who were perfect candidates for restoration and the God who is able to restore. The setting is likely after the Israelites had returned from seventy years of exile (their punishment for rebellion against God). Looking back, they were able to see His favor—including His forgiveness (vv. 1–3). They were motivated to ask God for His help (vv. 4–7) and to expect good things from Him (vv. 8–13).
Who among us doesn’t occasionally feel battered, bruised, broken? And sometimes it’s because of something we’ve done to ourselves. But because the Lord is the God of restoration and forgiveness, those who humbly come to Him are never without hope. With open arms He welcomes those who turn to Him; and those who do, find safety in His arms.
Are there signs in your life that restoration is in order? What’s your response to the God of restoration?
Lord, help me not to ignore the signs that restoration is needed in my life.

Sounds like it was a nice start to the day, meeting up with your Army buddy for breakfast.
The corn is through growing now and starting to dry out. Should be a great harvest as the ears are large and plump.
Most of the kittehs are doing well but we might lose one tomorrow. I took him in last week because he’s dropped weight drastically though he eats well. His blood tests checked out well except for the fact his white cell count is VERY high. Possibly cancer. If his white cell count is still high tomorrow after a week on a strong antibiotic, that’s pretty much it.
Just have to wait and see how it goes but since I’ve seen no outward improvement at all, I’ve come to terms with the probable outcome.

It’s been a good enough day. Had to run errands this afternoon and wished it wasn’t hot and muggy but it really wasn’t too bad. There was rain east of us in the mountains and we could see the clouds but we never got anything here. We might tomorrow.
I checked your area earlier when I pulled up the radar and hoped there was at least some light rain falling. Darn the luck.

Yep, the closer it got to us it just evaporated. Story of our lives. Sorry it was hot and muggy there for you. Sounds like the story o YOUR life. LOL! Hopefully, you’ve cooled off now and can relax!
I was a slug today. Just gradually getting my things sorted out for the trip. Need to do a bit of cleaning before I leave as I’m pretty certain hubby won’t. LOL!

We’re quite familiar with rain systems evaporating before they get here. LOL! It’s happening tonight. There’s a line of rain in west TN that’s shrinking as it creeps eastward.
But we have a decent chance for rain tomorrow evening when a cold front comes through. It’s our best shot at rain all week.
You’ll sort and re-sort all week long. LOL
