(Paul Preston):" Well, we’re actually forming a new state from California. We’re in the process of forming a new state from a preexisting state and following the constitution. Our constitution and Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights provides for us to form a new state when the citizens feel compelled to......."

As a native Californian, I fully understand the immense displeasure, outrage and frustration with the liberal California 'leadership'......BUT I am highly skeptical of this group trying to "create a new CA State". Your thoughts?

A DOA scam. As with previous similiar attempts, all this accomplishes is more California liberal Democrats in Congress.

Your thoughts?

As with all good intentions, the 2% tend to hijack the agenda and when you want a horse you get a camel.

In this case the danger is that the liberals hijack the cause then wind up getting two more senate seats in the process.

Before the proponents go through with this, they need to be sure they reasonably know the outcome will be what they wanted...perpetually.

Never hear anything but the Leftwing voices from CA.

But the source in this case is the Epoch Times, and not the usual ministry of lies and deception

The danger of a “new” state being formed from the existing state is that while there is at least a probability of the new one will be conservative in politics, there is no guarantee that it will be so. The GOP hold on the Senate is tenuous at best.

With the banana republic election laws in CA and the influx of immigrants with no knowledge of or affinity to American history or culture, the future of CA is bleak. I’m not sure this effort will be successful, but it may serve to bring issues to the fore.

A bigger challenge is that the US is skewed by city-states where the concentration of population overrules the balance of the state. How do we fix that? A one person - one vote system confirms the power of that concentrated population. The tyranny of the 80% of the population living in just 3% of the nation’s geographic area is real. How do the 20% non-urban citizens, who represent 97% of the nation’s geographic area have a say in their government, laws, culture, and future?

adding liberal senators to the senate right now will not be a good idea...

every state could split into two states, left maryland and right maryland for instance and help drive the stake through the liberal party’s heart...

but one at a time selectively will not work.

The Left wants a Northern and Southern CA so they can have two more Senators.
Same with Puerto Rico.

No 51st state out of an existing state. This just looks like the latest attempt to grab two more seats in the Senate only this time trying to use Christians. Last time it was Native Americans.

Although there are more Republicans and Conservatives in California than many red states our voices are definitely not heard. With the exception of the coastal areas most if California is very conservative.

I think CA will collapse under leftist rule and only then can it be recreated with laws preventing leftists from destroying it again. Then again; good people are outnumbered in CA so the majority get the government they deserve. The dregs.

In a perfect world leftists wouldn’t even be allowed to vote but we don’t live in that utopia.

I have family in CA. Every year it gets exponentially harder for me to visit them knowing how regressive and repressive CA has gotten. Everyone in CA commits a significant crime at least once a day without even realizing it due to the unreal number of really stupid laws there.

It’s enough to make people crazy. Maybe even crazy enough to shoot up a nice garlic festival.

There are still millions of conservatives in California, but finding them is like trying to find a Jew on the streets of Amsterdam in 1944.

In NJ, South Jersey wanted to secede from North Jersey in 1980. Five of six counties voted in favor of secession.

Below is a quote from this article:

In reality though, the movement was not destined to move beyond theatrics. An independent South Jersey would have needed the approval of a New Jersey Legislature willing to give up 15 percent of its population and 49 percent of its land area. Furthermore, an act of Congress would have been necessary to admit South Jersey to the union as its own state. Quite simply, the politics and legal hurdles of that feat meant it was never a plausible venture.
