I’ve been in establishments, not recently, where the sink was occupied and the trash can would do.

Bingo! Time to bring back pee troughs like in the old stadiums and bars. Let’s see how grossed out women can become with those troughs right next to where they sit!

amazing that it’s come to requiring legislation to label a bathroom as a bathroom.

Obama — “We will put a man in the women’s bathroom.”
Maybe you could call this the Redundancy Common Sense Law Act.
Will this effect restaurant attendance? As a woman, I’m not going to any “gender neutral” restaurant unless it is one block from my home.
Another consequence of bad and unutterably stupid laws?
Apparently, unknown to us guys, women are guilty of that same crime, and of bad aim. I used to joke about that, but it turns out that some women are very germ-o-phobic, and tinkle partially standing up. That pretty much sprays it everywhere.
My first thought was that considering where this is, doesn’t that state have more pressing problems?
I go by the SEAT UP theory based on if one comes in and finds the seat UP, chances are pretty good the last person didn’t whizz on the seat.
(UNLESS of course, one is devious and whizzes on the seat THEN puts it up, but that is bordering on the diabolical AND I NEVER DO IT unless someone tells me to put the seat down <: <: <:)

These are single-occupancy bathrooms, so there will be no instances of guys in a bathroom with girls. The biggest effect of this bill will be that there will be no single-occupancy men’s room in small establishments like diners and such - this will mean no quick in and out for men, they will need to wait for the ladies to finish up their rituals in there. It also means that the ladies will get to experience the horrors of what guys can do to a public restroom.
Single stall bathrooms are in every doctors office in the USA. And Many other buildings and restaurants. It’s commonsense to have 1 or 2 single stalls self bold locking units. You just have to wait your turn.
Don’t state and local codes in IL require a certain number of fixtures per establishment depending on size?
If businesses have to go to one-holers, how the heck can they comply with codes requiring more fixtures?
In the pre-insane days a sign with the male and female symbols would be fine, but I wonder if that would meet the requirements of this law?

Sigh. More reason not to eat out. Danged if I'll wait in an even longer line to pee.
Women will hate this. Men’s rooms are a mess because guys target practice . . . . and miss. Sitting on those seats is not advised.
And this is why the ladies hover over the seat. They know that the person before them wizzed on the seat.
I have no problem with SINGLE USE bathrooms being available without distinction to who needs one. That IS the easiest and most efficient way to apportion their use.
However, as smart as I think that idea is in general, I oppose the idea that it “ought to be a law”.
Law should stay out of it - use assignments for SINGLE USE bathrooms, that is.
One the other, I am also opposed to law designating that male and female designated multiple-user restrooms MUST be open to members of one sex who have a mental obsession that insists they pretend to be a member of the opposite sex. Such persons should be using a single-use/single-user restroom.
