Former Mexican police officer indicted for trafficking enough fentanyl to kill 10 million

A federal grand jury in Amarillo has indicted a former Mexican municipal police officer for fentanyl trafficking, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Erin Nealy Cox announced Friday... He was allegedly discovered with about 33 kilograms of the drug, likely enough to kill more than 10 million people, according to DEA experts... After being read his rights, Contreras-Martinez allegedly admitted he was paid $6,000 to transport the drugs from California to Florida. He said this was his second such trip.

During the interview, Contreras-Martinez also allegedly stated that before his unlawful immigration to the United States seven months prior, he had been employed for eight years as a municipal police officer in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico.

Most times they burn it.

Haven’t you always said, “Hmmmm.” when you see videos of them burning marijuana fields? No hazmat suits. No masks of any sort. Just out there breathing it in.

He says this was his second drug running trip. So, what happened to the first shipment?

I'm trying to understand this fentanyl business. If it's so powerful that a minute dose kills, and there are millions of doses out there ,WHY aren't the streets littered with dead drug users? If money is being made adding it to street drugs, how is killing your customers profitable? What is the goal in adding it to street drugs?
I'm trying to understand the thinking of drug dealers having a supply of ( whatever drug its added to) thinking 'lets add some fentanyl'-to what, increase volume? If increasing the effect is lethal, we're back to killing-literally-repeat customers. Again-if it's so lethal and so trafficked,why aren't we seeing THOUSANDS dying?
I have very little sympathy for drug addicts, especially when they KNOW the drugs will kill if fentanyl laced. And as for this dealer, and all the others=I think they should be administerd lethal doses of what they spread. Send the fentanyl to the prisons who can't get drugs for executions. Solve two problems.

DEA says 2mg is fatal so 33kg is 16.5M fatal doses. Since the bodies aren't piling up in the streets, that's a lot of people who would be walking around doped up on lower doses.

How much is 2mg?
