The federal government has ordered the death penalty to be reinstated for the first time in nearly two decades, as Attorney General William Barr directed the Bureau of Prisons to schedule the execution of five inmates after adopting an updated execution protocol.
After 16 years without an execution, Barr has directed the head of the Bureau of Prisons to execute "five death-row inmates convicted of murdering, and in some cases torturing and raping, the most vulnerable in our society — children and the elderly" in December and January, according to a statement from the Department of Justice.
In his statement, Barr said the government was moving to seek justice against the "worst criminals" and bring relief to victims and family members. At the same time, however, the government's move is likely to reignite legal challenges to the specific protocol and reinvigorate a debate concerning the constitutionality of lethal injection. The move represents a dramatic reversal after more than a decade-long hiatus in the federal use of capital punishment, as President Donald Trump has taken on the issue and called to "bring back the death penalty." The death penalty is legal in 29 states and the federal government, though there have been no federal executions in nearly two decades and the number of people facing state executions has been on the decline.

“The five federal inmates ordered to be executed are Daniel Lewis Lee for murdering a family of three, including an 8-year-old girl; Lezmond Mitchell for murdering a 63-year-old and her 9-year-old granddaughter; Wesley Ira Purkey for raping and murdering a 16-year-old girl; Alfred Bourgeois for torturing and killing his own 2-year-old daughter; Dustin Lee Honken, for shooting and killing five people, including two young girls.”
It sounds like all five of these are very bad people, deserving of the death penalty. But, isn’t murder (unless of a government officer) usually handled at the state level?

Crimes committed on federal property or involving a federal Are federal Crimes, and the death penalty being the penalty in this case are handled by the federal government.
Might be because of the heinous multi-person victims.
Might be that the states their crimes were committed didn’t allow death penalty but I’m banking on heinous murders, and the shocking age and innocence of their victims!

Schedule these 5 executions that are LONG over-due. Then watch the appeals pile up... and IF they ever do get executed - it will be a decade or more. By then, we will have had another Democrat elected to the White House and the new Dem POTUS will pardon them ...
And pedophile sex offenders... I say they be the first in line to make fertilizer...
