Mueller issues clarification, takes back bombshell statement about indicting Trump

Robert Mueller kicked off his testimony before the House Intelligence Committee Wednesday afternoon by issuing a clarification of something he said during a morning hearing about his decision-making process when it came to the question of whether President Trump committed obstruction of justice.

Mueller raised eyebrows during an exchange with House Judiciary Committee member Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif.

“The reason that you did not indict the president is because of the OLC opinion that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?” Lieu asked, referring to the Office of Legal Counsel’s long-held position against charging a president while they are in office.

“Correct,” Mueller replied.

That gave the impression that if it were not for the OLC opinion, Mueller would have indicted the president. In the afternoon, Mueller was quick to say that is not what he was trying to say at all.

“I want to add one correction to my testimony this morning," Mueller said. "I want to go back to one thing that was said this morning by Mr. Lieu, who said and I quote, ‘You didn’t charge the President because of the OLC opinion. That is not the correct way to say it. As we say in the report and as I said at the opening, we did not reach a determination as to whether the President committed a crime.”

At his press conference a few months ago he seemed very nervous and confused.

He’s nuts, Jim.

It's hard to imagine a worse day for the Congressional Democrats and their supporting vanguard in the media.

Not really. They can create an alternate reality. The headlines on Huffpost, Mother Jones, Salon etc. are how Mueller nailed Trump's treachery and how the hapless Republicans could not lay a glove on him.

Like the rest of the democrats, Mr. Mueller is intellectually challenged.

If counsel can charge him with a crime, they should charge him. If not, shut up.

Where do they get the right to weasel word slander?

I think Mueller is working for the Russians and is trying to create a civil war.

Mueller is feeding both sides and dividing them further on this whole thing.

Democrats are convinced they got Trump now. Republicans believe Trump is clear.

After Mueller’s testimony today, both sides are more divided and more entrenched.....almost like they were manipulated into it by feeding tidbits.

Mueller is not that smart, but whomever is handling him is brilliant.

Mueller is like a wart; no matter what you do, he just won’t go away. In fact, he keeps coming back again and again and again....

Plus, his hijinx and shenanigans cost millions, all wasted. This is waaaay past scandalous.

Sir, I have a prepared statement that makes no sense that I wish to read into the record, but first I need you to mumble “I cannot comment on that” a couple of times. Do you need any actual question or would you just like to do that anyway to save a bit of time?

Democrats will never hear of it happening, and if they do, they’ll deny it ever happened.

Yet another embarrassing day of the Democrat Coup Attempt.

I don’t feel a bit sorry for the old dotard. He has wrecked lives, forcing a phony conviction on Gen. Flynn by threatening his son, conducting publicized Gestapo morning raids on Manafort, Stone and publicly humiliating their wives, participating in the creation of crimes to build a case against a duly elected President I have NO sympathy for this doddering old fool; his professional career ends rightly on a banana peel. A first class low class no good bum.

Trump reportedly tweeted this, “I would like to thank the Democrats for holding this morning’s hearings.

The Democrats must be recoiling over this hearing. Just the fact that Mueller came across as a medicated bumbling confused old man was a huge win for Trump.

” I wonder if he will go eat himself out of his misery tonight”

I’d rather he go jump in a shark tank if something is going to eat him. Heavy on fat content, not much food value, but the sharks won’t care.

Did ANY Republican ask Muleface if he had now or in recent weeks, met with any Democrats to discuss “matters” in regard to the hearing and his testimony? If not, why not?

Ted Lieu was all over the airwaves this afternoon saying the hearing was great and the president obviously committed many instances of obstruction of justice, but “it's up to the American people to decide” whether to take it any further.

This is NOT what happened in that hearing. Total lie.
